The Hutchings Family: April 2014
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
James has wanted to build in bunk beds for the boys for sometime, and while his dad was visiting it was the perfect time to complete the project. All of the boys chipped in and helped making it a great family project! The boys helped bring in the wood, including Hyrum! There was lots of cutting and drilling! And more drilling. :). We built a full/twin, so that Michael would have a little extra rom to grow. Now we just need some new mattresses. The boys love showing off how sturdy they are! Michael dumped...

The Hutchings Family: October 2014
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Why does my four month old get up more in the night? Having used formula for my first three kids soon after they were born I was sad to learn that babies who nurse don’t sleep through the night as quickly as formula fed babies. I learned this pretty quickly with my fourth child. Let me clarify that my babies sleep all night I’m just talking about my formula fed babies waking up to eat. This actually came as a very disappointing shock to a tired momma. Nothing worked and I just found ways to deal with it.

The Hutchings Family: Gardening has Begun
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/gardening-has-begunwe.html
Every year we look forward to getting our garden started. Then, we remember how much work it is! It is always worth it, though! In go the potatoes. We put the onions next to them. As long as the deer leave them alone we should have a great crop. We made a lettuce box to keep by the house. Having them close to the house will be nice. We did elevate it, so the bunnies cannot get it! This is broccoli, brussel sprouts, kale and then later we added cabbage and celeriac. This was another genius idea! And final...

The Hutchings Family: July 2014
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
We recently had our pictures taken, and I thought I would use them to update everyone on how we are doing! Simon is just over 2 weeks old now. He sleeps, eats and poops, but he is also learning to smile which is so much fun! He is growing quickly, so we are trying to enjoy every moment. The boys are getting used to the idea of eating more vegetables and usually love it. They are a little tired of eggplant, but our plants don't seem to care. I did make some eggplant, pea and bean baby food with so...

The Hutchings Family: March 2015
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
So much yummy pie! There were some amazing treasures! And on a surprising note the weather was perfect, so the kids got to play outside. They even had a great snowball fight in their t-shirts. Olaf was correct that snow in spring is the best! Here is Hyrum enjoying the swings and slide in this beautiful weather! I didn't want to post other people's kids. :). Happy Pi Day everyone! Spring Break in Virginia. They had a blast! Then, we went into DC. The kids chose to go to the zoo, but I just had to dri...

The Hutchings Family: More farming adventures
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/05/more-farming-adventures.html
Our latest addition to our farm are our honey bees. These are Joshua's project and he LOVES doing it! Joshua had to check to make sure they were making honey and that the queen was making babies. All looks good! Joshua is fearless and proud of it. We are pretty proud of him, too! It took three of them to corner, grab and shoot the pigs with the shots. I wish I had better pics. ;. Michael was very happy when it was over. And very dirty. Shower time! The inside looks great, too! Always on the Move.

The Hutchings Family: Potty Training
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/potty-training.html
One of the things I dreaded when having more children was potty training! We have only had one #2 accident. Phew! And a handful of wet accidents usually when we had company or there was a movie playing. It has been a couple of weeks and things are still going well. I have learned a few lessons. 1 Wait until your child is ready. 2 Wait until your child wants to potty train. Now I know diapers are expensive, but it was worth it to me! This experience has given me hope in potty training my last one when the...

The Hutchings Family: Pigs, pigs and more pigs!
http://thehutchingsfamily.blogspot.com/2015/04/pigs-pigs-and-more-pigs.html
Pigs, pigs and more pigs! Our farming adventures have taken on a new twist. We decided to raise pigs this year. We did lots of research, learned that many people we know have done this before and worked really hard. We started by collecting lots of pallets. Then, we did a lot of drilling! Even I jumped in to help especially since the wood was quite hard. Then, we reinforced with stakes. Even Hyrum jumped in to help! We picked them up today! This is all very new to us, but it seems to be going well. I...
