Virtual Laboratory for the earth's climate diagnostics. 東北大学大気海洋変動観測研究センター CAOS , 東京大学気候システム研究センター(CCSR)、名古屋大学地球水循環研究センター(HyArc)、千葉大学環境リモートセンシング研究センター CEReS では、文部科学省教育特別経費事業地球気候系の診断に関わるバーチャルラボラトリーの形成を推進しています。このバーチャルラボラトリーでは、温暖化など大きなストレス下にある地球気候系の診断を行うために、気候環境研究に関わる他の大学附置研究センターと協力してバーチャルラボラトリーを形成し、各センターの特色と研究資産を活かした研究教育を分担連携して行います。このような連携によるシナジー効果によって、気候系の診断方法の確立をはかり、事業全体として温暖化現象の解明などの重要課題に取り組み、地球温暖化イニシアチブ水循環イニシアチブ地球観測統合システム GEOSS 等の我が国の重点課題に貢献することを目的としています。
