Increasingly we were approached by other companies that wished us to supply turbines for sites they were developing. As a result of this, Hydrover Turbines Ltd was formed in early 2011. Since then we have built 27 turbines totalling 500kW of installed capacity.

Each turbine is optimised to specific site requirements of head and flow. The lack of belt drive and or gearbox, coupled to high efficiency elliptical bucket designs means that excellent efficiency is possible even on very small machines. If you read literature on micro hydro you will see that 50% overall efficiency is often suggested for schemes under 10kW.

In March 2013, Kostas from Nea Guinea, after gaining some practical experience on small hydro installations by working along with small hydro designer and installer Richard Drover. The turbine runner has been constructed by Joe Hartvigsen while the stainless steel casing was build in the workshop of Nea Guinea in Athens, following Joe’s plans from his website h-hydro.com.
