パターン光を利用した形状計測システムでは，投影したパターンがカメラで観測できなければならない 通常のプロジェクタでは室内灯などの環境光下ではプロジェクタから投影したパターンの観測が困難になることがある そこで，レーザプロジェクタを使用し，カメラ側にレーザの波長のみを透過するフィルタを設置することで，プロジェクタが投影する光のみを観測することで環境光下での計測を実現する 動画に示すように，強い光を当てたシーンにおいても形状計測が可能であり，フィルタをつけないカメラで同時に撮影することでテクスチャの獲得もできる.
