After stopping at the Conservation Center, I decided to drive further south on the Seward Hwy, down the Kenai Peninsula to the town of Seward. Seward is known for its commercial fishing industry. It took about 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get there from Anchorage. Along the highway is some of the most beautiful scenery that I have ever seen. It is almost breathtaking! March 11, 2011. March 11, 2011. Charley's Sled Dog Kennel is located in Knik, Alaska which is located 1 hour north of Anchorage. The kennel has 22 racing dogs and 8 retired dogs which are owned and cared for by Charley Bejna.
