Iain's Iainspiration

The diary of an unpublished author. Sunday, 7 April 2013. The TBR List vs The TBW List. Like majority of you, I've steadily been increasing my To-Be-Read list over the years. The books broadly fall into three categories:. 1) Books I need to read for research purposed, to see what's current, what works well in terms if style, and pace, etc. (Admittedly, this also falls under the pleasure category too, but If I'm honest about it, then all books fall under the pleasure category.). Obviously, I jumped out of...

Iain's Iainspiration: May 2012

http://www.iainspiration.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

The diary of an unpublished author. Monday, 28 May 2012. In with the old and out with the new? A typical submission package consists of a cover letter, a synopsis, and the first three chapters of your MS, and if you want the work back, then an SAE. There’s something very satisfying about physically preparing the package, going down to the Post Office and sending it. What do you think? Is the submission process in the States the way that they should be going over here? Monday, 21 May 2012. Let me know :o).

Iain's Iainspiration: Once More Into The Breach...

http://www.iainspiration.blogspot.com/2013/02/once-more-into-breach.html

The diary of an unpublished author. Tuesday, 26 February 2013. Once More Into The Breach. I've finally done it. I've taken the plunge and submitted Odd Squad to some Lit Agencies. For the past few weeks I've been compiling my list of agents. I've spent an absolute age trawling through their websites, searching for interviews they may have given elsewhere, and narrowing my list down the ones that I feel will suit my needs in an agent. And trying to hold my breath. How are your projects coming along? I&#82...

Iain's Iainspiration: July 2012

http://www.iainspiration.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

The diary of an unpublished author. Monday, 23 July 2012. And what have you done with my WIP? I'm coming to the end of yet another round of revisions on my WIP, and it's interesting to look back and see how my attitude has changed towards this process. Initially, it was a chore. These always seemed to be a long slog. Monday, 16 July 2012. New and frightening places. I'm extremely close to sending off a batch of submissions to some agencies, and I'm having doubts about whether my MS is good enough. Like I...

Iain's Iainspiration: Late to the Party

http://www.iainspiration.blogspot.com/2012/11/late-to-party.html

The diary of an unpublished author. Wednesday, 7 November 2012. Late to the Party. I’m a bit late to the party with this years NanoReviMo. For those of you who aren’t aware, last year, a bunch of us decided that we weren’t in a position to do the NanoWriMo, as we were knee deep in revisions. This prompted Peggy. To spearhead the Revision month as an alternative. This year, Jessie. 7 November 2012 at 14:16. 8 November 2012 at 02:37. Im hoping to be doing this next year! Emily R. King. Cant wait for the up...

Sunday, 18 October 2015. Wednesday, 2 March 2011. I can't remember where I'd seen this idea before, probably a photography magazine at some time, so it's certainly not an Iain original! Partially closing the blinds in the en-suite bathroom produced stripes of light and dark, which became refracted into some interesting patterns and shapes when viewed through various glasses filled with water. Well I thought so anyway! Refraction abstract (c) Iain Houghton. F71, 25s, 60mm lens, ISO100. F100, 1.3s, 60m...
