Separated Out: July 2007
http://separatedout.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Every single Marillion song, one by one. Monday, 30 July 2007. This one, I'm fairly certain, started life in an improvised jam session in the middle of the live performance of "This Strange Engine" at the 2003 Marillion Weekend; the line in question (" There's no such thing as a winnable war". Doesn't actually appear in this song's list of many things in which Hogarth reportedly does not believe, but nonetheless seems to have been the inspiration for the structure of this song. Video: No Such Thing.

Separated Out: June 2007
http://separatedout.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Every single Marillion song, one by one. Saturday, 30 June 2007. So the point of this song is this; women? And b) that requires some actual anthemic qualities, and this one falls very far short of the mark. There's no real shout-along chorus (the word spelling-out only occurs once, which prevents it from becoming the "so bad it's good" version of one of those), no catchy hook; really, nothing at all to make it stand out for anything but its moronic lyrics. That reminds me . Hit the ground running? And they did. People keep talking about war with Iraq; a crazed sniper shot thirteen of my fellow-citizens; and Senator Wellstone is dead. Great. Who's got a beer for me? Or, forget beer - need something stronger. Not so much, and, and, and . it's never fun when your imagination runs away with you. But there are approximately six people I'm close to who don't. I Jumped. Three. Feet. Iraq, the war, etc.: it gives me a headache. I can see valid arguments on...I don...

That reminds me . The thing is this. What I've always wondered about the serious bloggers is, where on earth do they find the time? I mean, bloggers are by definition not journalists, right - the fundamental difference is between the mainstream media (which I swear I've seen called 'MSM') and the 'blogosphere' - (so, yes, I have a difficult time with 'blogs' like those hosted at washingtonpost.com. Posted by mkf @ 09:32. Links to this post. So that went well. I have accomplished this by switching to a ne...

That reminds me . The cleaup operation in New York has ended. With about a thousand of the dead unidentified or unrecovered. I also see that the state of Virginia has authorized a commemorative license plate. I happen to be honest and upstanding - but excuse me if this process leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Separated Out: Story From A Thin Wall
http://separatedout.blogspot.com/2007/07/story-from-thin-wall.html
Every single Marillion song, one by one. Friday, 27 July 2007. Story From A Thin Wall. One of the demos included on the bonus disc of the Clutching At Straws. Remaster that might have gone on to appear on the fifth album, had Fish stayed with the band. Parts of all of these demos were later scavenged by both parties, but I think this one came out least unscathed from it all; a pretty close approximation of the music later became "Berlin" from the Seasons End. Labels: Album 5 Demos. Market Square Heroes EP.

Separated Out: Drilling Holes
http://separatedout.blogspot.com/2007/08/drilling-holes.html
Every single Marillion song, one by one. Monday, 27 August 2007. I'm probably not going to keep to a particularly regular schedule from here, but I do plan to get an absolute minimum of one a week out, and probably more most weeks. It seems like it should be completely inappropriate that such a lazy song in subject matter is actually one of the most upbeat songs on Marbles. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Separated Out: If You Like I'll Tell You About It

Every single Marillion song, one by one. Thursday, 28 June 2007. If You Like I'll Tell You About It. Anyway, the next question after "What the hell is an oeuvreblog? Is, of course, "Why the hell would you choose Marillion? Once I'd committed myself to writing an oeuvreblog (which basically took a conversation consisting of "Hey, have you heard about oeuvreblogs? No, what's an oeuvreblog? It's where someone writes a blog entry about every single song a certain band has ever recorded. You should do one!

That reminds me . BEEN A FUN TEN MONTHS, EH? Not that I expect anyone is reading this, at this point. If I were you, I'd have given up on me a long time ago. But maybe I can begin to rebuild a readership. The thing is, I don't have a lot to say about politics and world life and whatnot. Before, I was trying, but I was never really in it. I try to keep myself informed, and sometimes I have Strong Opinions, but really, in general? Posted by mkf @ 18:38. Links to this post. View my complete profile.
