Ruminations on Software as a Service. AB on OSX (and wrk). July 17, 2014. And noticed that I had a huge number of ports waiting in state ‘TIME WAIT’. That told me that I’d created a huge number of ports, and they weren’t currently doing anything. The reason for the behavior became obvious. The ephemeral ports were being created for talking to the service port, and not being cleaned up in time. The solution is two fold. 1) make sure I have the most ephemeral ports available that I can. Lower it to 1 second.
