Tuesday, August 9, 2011. We left Malibu and headed for Huntington beach, but the US Open of Surfing had taken over the town so we stayed at Newport Beach for a night and then continued on to San Diego. Stopped for a few hours at a great town call Encintas, good surf and very professional looking life guards. Got the Trolley (tram) into San Diego and ate in an Old Town mexican with authentic music. Next night, just up the coast a little to San Clemente State park. Lot's of surf there too.

Thursday, July 21, 2011. Lake Tahoe, Lassen Volcanic National Park, Redwood N park. Still no sighting of bears. We've seen whales, deer, banana slugs, numerous mosquito, various ants ( the boys made some a garden with a gate at Lassen), Coyote, tadpoles, hermit crabs, a snake, elks, and the common but handsome Stella Jay. We were more prepared for the journey to Lassen Volcanic National Park, but less prepared for the stunning entry, ( or was this just my new sunglasses making everything dazzle? Highway ...

Sunday, July 31, 2011. Highway 1 Redwood to Santa Barbera. Not big enough for our campervan but we did see cars drive through this tree. Pretty excited to get to the beach near Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz boardwalk fairground rides. We stayed a bit too long at the fairground so had to spend a night in a state beach car park. Not too bad though. On to Monteray and it's famous aquarium, lot's of fish (and pretty similar to most aquariums we've visited to be honest.). Big Sur Camp ground, tubing down the river.
