Martin writes...: Bio

http://martinpond.blogspot.com/p/home_10.html

Born in East Kent in 1970, I was educated at the University of East Anglia. A career in IT followed, and continues to pay the bills. In 2007 I made a hesitant return to fiction, and returned to UEA as well, with their diploma in Creative Writing. My stories have appeared in Unthology No 1. Whilst three poems have appeared in The Artillery Of Words magazine. In 2012, I was a winner of Comma Press's Short Story Day "story in ten words or less" competition. My first collection of short fiction, Dark Steps.

Thursday, 29 May 2014. Anatomy of a bookshelf. More cartoon brilliance from Tom Gauld. As spotted in The Grauniad, Saturday 24th May 2014. Links to this post. Tuesday, 20 May 2014. A story within a story within a story. This blog is about writing - mostly, but not exclusively, mine. This post falls squarely into the "not mine" category. And the fool replied, "I don't know. I only knew that you were thirsty.". So what am I saying here, really? Firstly, The Fisher King is brilliant, go and watch it.

http://martinpond.blogspot.com/2014/07/perhaps-youre-not-seeing-everything-ever.html

Tuesday, 1 July 2014. Perhaps you're not seeing everything, ever. I mostly try to write unsettling stories, psychological horror, the horror of the everyday and the things that people do. That's because, if I can quote Mark Kilner. Like reading, by the way), the whole "horror as in werewolves and goblins or horror as in psychopaths running around with knives" doesn't really do it for me. What makes a story scary, horrific or just plain unnerving for you? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://martinpond.blogspot.com/2015/06/how-to-summarise-85000-word-novel-in.html

Wednesday, 3 June 2015. How to summarise an 85,000-word novel in 300 words. I'm fortunate, I suppose, to have never really been touched by the death of someone close. My dog dying, in my early teens, is the closest I've come so far. And I've had other things to mourn - a friendship, principally, rent asunder by the sudden imposition of 3,750 miles in-between us. But death? No, I've been lucky, so far. To that end, I entered the Bridport Novel Award. I might get some feedback. Dream outcome?

Books by Ian Newbegin. Seventeen years ago I had this idea for a story, a story about mind travel and fighting to save the universe and other planets. But then I started a PhD and it took six years to complete so, Stay was shelved. But not for long. I got the writing bug and my original idea was bought to fruition along with four other books to finish it. Three volumes of Stay are complete. Book four is currently being written and will be published soon. So what are the five published books?
