Carolina Chronicles: January 2010

Sunday, January 31, 2010. Have tooth will giggle. I remain amazed at how beautifully serene our little guy is. Even though he has clearly been teething, as evidenced by the tiny tooth which now graces the left side of his jaw, he has still been a very pleasant boy. I have noticed a slight upswing in fussiness, but it is hardly worth mentioning. Daniel and I feel so incredibly blessed to have been eased into parenthood by such a gentle soul. Links to this post. Carolina Chronicles: May 2009

Tuesday, May 26, 2009. I was killing time on the New York Times website today when I came across an editorial. Collection discussing whether or not prom should be abolished, given that it has become an evening of excess of just about every sort for hormone-driven teenagers who have not fully developed the capacity for good judgment yet. I'm not criticizing them for it. it's just true that the brain doesn't mature until about the age of 26! No way, Jose! There you have it. No prom for me. Perhaps I am jus...

Carolina Chronicles: March 2009

Sunday, March 29, 2009. Like to see him perform, and if practices away from me are part of the deal, then I suppose I'll figure out how to live with this every 2 weeks or every month or so. This arrangement has several benefits for Daniel:. 1 Excuses for road trips, which he loves. 2 Being a performing musician again in more than just a church choir capacity. 4 Inspiring new admiration in his wife. Links to this post. Friday, March 27, 2009. I went to church on Wednesday morning to observe the feast of t...

Carolina Chronicles: April 2009

Monday, April 27, 2009. Take Me Out to the Ice Rink. Well, 5 hours of much-needed napping later, I can officially state that I both survived and really enjoyed our little field-trip to Raleigh and the RBC Center to see a game in which the Hurricanes stuck it to the Devils and the guy in our net got a shut-out against his childhood hockey idol. Wooooooohoo! These are my top three reasons for this conclusion:. Links to this post. Thursday, April 23, 2009. Links to this post. Tuesday, April 21, 2009. It's r...

Carolina Chronicles: June 2009

Friday, June 26, 2009. Lost Icons, and Unfading Icons. The AP ran an article this morning on the events that added up to a "bad day" for Generation Xers, the generation to which I apparently belong by virtue of my birth year. It was a bad day because we Xers lost two cultural icons (or three, if you want to count Ed McMahon, whose passing quickly became passe in the wake of the news about Farrah and Michael). Daniel and I sat on the couch last night watching my belly bounce up and down as a little person...

J.N. Darby Blog: July 2008
http://jndarby.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 16, 2008. God's Dwelling with Men. By John Nelson Darby. Thus the soul is perfectly satisfied with the fountain of blessedness for which he is thirsting, even God Himself, whom he is rendered capable of enjoying. He is at the wellspring. Say, are you brought nigh to God? And where was Jehovah to dwell? You will find another thing connected with this, that, except the setting apart of the sabbath, the first time holiness is spoken of is in Exodus 15. Every saint had it, of course, in h...

Forest Folks: August 2008
http://forestfolks.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 19, 2008. This past weekend was dedicated to one purpose: Spoiling Talia. On Friday, Talia turned one. To honor her on her special day, she received numerous hugs, kisses, serenades, tickles, and blueberry pancakes. Making our celebration even more special, Grandma and Grandpa Poole came to visit. Talia played with Grandma and Grandpa. Grandma introduced Talia to the joy of shopping. Mommy also benefited from the excursion. For lunch and lasagna for dinner. Here is the birthday girl.

Forest Folks: July 2008

Friday, July 25, 2008. Mommy says she is too busy to update the blog so I thought I would fill in for her. Mommy and I have fun all day. We play a game called laundry. Mommy folds clothes and places them in drawers. I reach into the drawers and pull out the clothes. Mommy refolds the clothes and places them back in the drawers. I pull them out. We play this game until I get bored. Recently I got sick. Mommy and Daddy felt bad for me so they bought me new toys. I like my giant Legos. I like to make messes.
