The Ice City gets its name from the brutal winters that inhabit the area for nearly half of each year, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t other seasons. They’re just abbreviated. A breakdown of the seasons in Harbin, as I’ve observed them, would be as follows:. Spring: mid-April to mid-May ( 1 month). Summer: mid-May to mid-September ( 4 months).
