Reading in Reykjavík: September 2014
http://52books.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Home of the epic TBR list. Formerly (Another) 52 Books. My book haul for August 2014. Missing is The Real Animal House: The Awesomely Depraved Saga of the Fraternity That Inspired the Movie. By Chris Miller. I lent it to my brother, who is a big fan of the movie (I sort of bought it for him too). I haven't yet read any of them, but I will probably start one once I finish one of my current reads (I'm juggling three books at the moment). I already had an older copy of Regency Buck. Reading in Reykjavík: Christmas presents for book lovers
http://52books.blogspot.com/2008/12/christmas-presents-for-book-lovers.html
Home of the epic TBR list. Formerly (Another) 52 Books. Christmas presents for book lovers. It seems everyone is offering Christmas gift suggestions for those without a clue as what to give their loved ones.and here is another one:. A reading light, either a clip-on battery-operated travel model or one they can put on a desk or stand on the floor. A reading pillow. The luxury model looks like the back and armrests of a comfy chair, while the cheaper versions look sort of like breastfeeding pillows. One o...

Reading in Reykjavík: February 2015
http://52books.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Home of the epic TBR list. Formerly (Another) 52 Books. Book haul for January and February 2015. I bought 21 books in January and February, adding, among other things, considerably to my collection of out-of-date guidebooks. Remarkably, only one of the books in the stack is fiction (guess which one? While I am not particularly fond of "must read" lists like the one in 1001 Book. Links to this post. Still hibernating (sort of) but felt the need to brag. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Reading in Reykjavík: Book rating system
http://52books.blogspot.com/p/rating-system.html
Home of the epic TBR list. Formerly (Another) 52 Books. This is the book rating system I used in my old reviews. I stopped assigning stars to books some time ago, because they were subjective and largely arbitrary. (I still assign them in my reading log, based on the likelihood of me rereading the book). I opted for the 5 star system, as it seems to be the most common, and therefore the one most people are familiar with. These are my criteria for giving star ratings to books:. 0 stars: I want my money ba...

This is For The Better Days: February 2012
http://thisisforthebetterdays.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
This is For The Better Days. Sunday, February 26, 2012. It's Oh So Quiet. So this week, we drew Iceland! What is Icelandic cuisine like, you might say? Well, we didn't really know, either. Thanks to. And inspiration from Miss Bjork, we found some recipes to try. I was rather alarmed to find out that Icelanders eat both horse meat and PUFFINS! Cute, cuddly puffins. I'm going to pretend that it's because they can't get chicken there. The herring salad was also pretty easy to put together, and interesting t...
