Sweetly Broken: Colored Straws & A Bucket
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2013/01/colored-straws-bucket.html
Colored Straws and A Bucket. I've got a toddler on my hands with crazy amounts of energy and a 3 minute attention span. He's over this winter stuff and being cooped up inside. OVER IT. So I've been crafting him things. Keeping him entertained is no easy feat. This one lasts about 5 minutes a day. I'll take it. Laura @ The Everyday Joys. What a fun idea! January 21, 2013 at 7:36 PM. Sweetly Broken: July 2011
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Lets Get This Over With. Michael is deploying. Again. He returned from Iraq one year ago this month. Like clockwork, that army. My walls are up and I'm trying my best not to let reality seep through the cracks. There are moments of weakness. "The last time" hangs fresh in my memory. I dread his departure. I'll fight ever fiber not to chase after him as he loads onto that bus. Watching someone you love drive away is such an awful thing. Coming home to an empty bed is even worse. It took all my strength no...

Sweetly Broken: Ss Sun : Jesus Is the Light Of The World
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2014/09/ss-sun-jesus-is-light-of-world.html
Ss Sun : Jesus Is the Light Of The World. We started our first unit with a yummy pancake breakfast. He was a big fan of the salt tray. You can see that his S is backwards. I will correct him once, but don't focus on it much. He recognizes all letters, even the lowercase ones that are easy to confuse. (Like D, B, and P.) He only wants to flip them when he writes, which I'm thinking is pretty normal at this stage. Here was his favorite of the worksheets! We talked about how, like the sun, God can make dark...

Sweetly Broken: February 2012
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
The photos are in. I can't say how thankful I am for these images. The party went so fast that at the end I found myself throwing my hands up in the air all, "that's it? Luckily I hired a gem to get it all on camera. Pamela. Is super talented and was so sweet. She even helped with cleanup. Seriously, I love her. While you peruse take note - I'm wearing the green cardigan, my mom is in purple. Don't let her fool you. I went to Etsy and found bnute. Now to the goods. Now, after all the cleanup and hard wor...

Sweetly Broken: May 2012
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
I finally got my flowers onto the balcony. I smile every time I look out the window. Levi presses his nose against the glass and yells, "birds! We've been waiting for May. It's hard to believe Michael will be with us soon. I swear I just made the phone call to my mother-in-law that he was deploying. Also, I wasn't sure about the yellow walls when we moved in, but now? I love them. Maybe I'll finally do a photo reveal.). You Wanna Know What Weve Been Up To? Little boy big room and suckers from the bank.

Sweetly Broken: September 2011
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
We Are Going To Be Ok (And That Feels Good). We said goodbye to Michael on Monday morning. It was a lot. Harder than I remember it being our first deployment. I just could not stop crying. Michael has arrived safely to his destination and I've gotten three phone calls from him. Levi and I are all moved in to my parents house for the next six months, and (knock on wood) so far everything is going smoothly. Thank you LORD for distractions, a WONDERFUL husband and a great support system! We are so blessed!

Sweetly Broken: August 2014
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Well, we are 7 days in. We chose the curriculum My Father's World for our first year at home. I knew having organization and "a plan" would keep me underwhelmed. I do what the teachers manual says and supplement where I deem necessary. The first 2 weeks focus on the creation story from Genesis, followed by 26 hands on, thematic units that explore the wonders of Gods creation. Each unit covers a letter of the alphabet and a biblical concept. There's a bit of informal math involved, also. Day 4 God made th...

Sweetly Broken: October 2011
http://kayla-sweetlybroken.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
We're three weeks into this deployment and today was the first I wasn't able to speak with Michael. I am having a hard time and I think that missed phone call has everything to do with it. Funny how a 25 minute dose of Michael does me well. Life is so crazy good for so many reasons, but there are times in the midst of joy I look into Levi's face and my heart aches because Michael should be here. He should be here experiencing all this good with us. Some days are harder than others. The last bits of Summer.
