Tuesday, December 20, 2011. Here's our songbird summary for 2011 (mostly written by research director Jay Carlisle). During the 2011 autumn migration, we captured 5,196 birds of 52 species. During 4,364.5 mist-net hours. This capture rate is slightly below average and the species richness is the lowest since 1999. The ten most commonly-captured species in 2011 were. 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler - 818. 2 Ruby-crowned Kinglet- 639. 3 Nashville Warbler - 512. 4 White-crowned Sparrow - 499. 7 Yellow Warbler - 256.

After three great months our time here counting raptors has come to end. We said our goodbyes to the observatories at Cazalla and Algorrobo on Sunday, October 9. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. Lucky Peak fall migration update. With many apologies for not posting sooner, here's an update on the migration happenings up at Lucky Peak. It's been a great start to the season and the best few weeks are ahead of us (see below for info on two upcoming Audubon Society. Field trips) so we hope to see as many visitors/bird fans as possible! In particular, 2009 has been great for the diurnal raptors - both as far as the numbers we're counting and. Friday, May 28, 2010. Not Just Another Day . . . Thanks for the good thoughts, Clair. They travel faster than your average mail, so they got here pretty quickly! Not when she pulled out chunks of fat and cut them out so that she could get to the abdominal cavity, not when the large intestines started pop out a little bit, or when she pulled the small intestine out to inspect it, not even when she pulled the entire spleen out of the body cavity to check for a pulse and inspect it - I did not pass out!
