The journey is my home. Sunday, September 01, 2013. Oh, DC. I miss you. Every time I reminisce about the Capitol Hill days or the Georgetown days, I get nostalgic. The trouble is I don't know that I'd trade New York for you right now. I'm happy where I am. But I also love the life I had before. Family run around the monuments - something we should have done more often when we lived there. All was well once he received a reward (Dairy Godmother dog treat). Walking around the MLK memorial.

The journey is my home. Sunday, September 01, 2013. I am way behind on blogging, but would be remiss if I did not acknowledge a few family members who visited us this spring. The Blaylock B&B is always open if anyone else wants to visit. Jeff visited at the beginning of April after he finished his internship in DC. It felt like I was in class or studying a lot of time he was in town, but he did a good job of entertaining himself. We went to the BYU NIT game at MSG. The Cougars lost, but we had fun.

The journey is my home. Sunday, September 01, 2013. The weekend after our anniversary we went to Vermont to celebrate. One of my best friends is from Vermont, and Vermonters are like Texans in that they have a crazy amount of state pride. I was in love with Vermont before I ever visited, and now I love it even more. We stayed at the Trapp Family Lodge on Friday and Saturday night. Yes, that Trapp family. We brought Jack-Jack with us and he loved the lodge. There were several great hikes just out our door.

The journey is my home. Thursday, May 23, 2013. Recipes for an Arepas Brunch. The arepas recipe may look elaborate, but it’s more time intensive ( 1 hour total) than challenging… and well worth it. 2 perfectly ripe avocados. 1 tablespoon lime juice (no need to use fresh limes, bottled juice is fine). 2 tablespoons chopped red onions. Scoop avocado meat into a bowl and mash with the lime juice. Chop and stir in onions. Salt and pepper to taste. 3 ripe plantains, sliced. Turn off heat and remove plantains.

As most of you know Daxton was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes almost 2 years ago. This was our first year to do the walk, but have decided we are going to continue to participate each year in hopes that they will find a cure within Daxton's lifetime. We found one of the only shady spots for lunch after we walked. This is a picture of everyone who came to walk with us.
