October 17, 2014. We knew this day would come – we’ve just ran out of our supplies of European cosmetics that we’ve brought with us. This is the end of the world for me, because we can’t seem to find deodorants anywhere. All that I could find are:. Cola flavoured body soap – I am loving it. Opening a bank account at Shinsei Bank. Yesterday was my first day at work, and as part of the induction I was asked to provide my bank account details, and I believe I managed to upset them by saying I haven’t got one yet! Back in the UK, I’ve looked at offerings…. Something I’ve completely forgot to mention, perhaps due to dehydration and lack of sleep is that we’ve also acquired Named SUICA cards yesterday on our first day here in Japan. What are these things and why do we care you ask?

100 Yen stores in Japan. October 7, 2014. Similarly to Poundland, Pundstretcher and alike, there are quite a few 100 yen stores in Japan. In Tokyo, I found the found Daiso and Seria to be the biggest chains with quite a few shops around. There is also Silk, but everything there smells like it has shared the same shipping container with something or someone who has just died. We bought all our kitchenware (namely ceramic plates, bowls, and glasses) from Seria, and a pretty good knife (so far) from Daiso.
