My Tech Thoughts: December 2010

Monday, December 20, 2010. Windows PC Internet Messed Up. Since it was one of the few things I could actually see, but there were very few concrete answers. Luckily, the wireless was working, which isolated the problem and helped me to research the problem. A few virus scans later (there was a few Java exploits and a Trojan from a Format Factory installer), I still couldn't access the full internet. Luckily, I happened upon this thread. I followed the simple steps:. Run 'netsh winsock reset'. The iDroid ...

Thu 28 June 2012 by jean. IOS filesystem encryption and data protection mechanisms are now well documented. Reading the NAND memory. It is possible to read the raw NAND using openiBoot, but currently USB transfers are quite slow, which makes it impractical for dumping the whole Flash memory. Starting with iOS 3, a program called ioflashstoragetool. In iOS 5, most of the functions exposed by this IOKit interface were removed. To create a dump using this interface, we can boot a ramdisk using an older ...

Http:/ www.idroidproject.org/. Linux on the iPhone: August 2008

Linux on the iPhone. Saturday, August 23, 2008. Similarities and Differences between QuickPwn and ZiPhone. Primary jailbreak payload is placed into iPhone memory for both jailbreaks. QuickPwn uses the same mechanism that Apple uses to send its update ramdisk. This memory is both allocated and reserved. It will not crash at random moments, or give you repeating BSD root errors. This is the way the XNU kernel is designed to use ramdisks. ZiPhone hinges on a BUG in iBoot that was quickly fixed by Apple.

Linux on the iPhone. Monday, July 5, 2010. What's up with Planetbeing? Many of you asked in the past 1 month or so, where is Planetbeing? What is he doing? Has he abandoned the project? The answer to the last question is a definite NO. Even when he was working on such things, he still has his mind on iPhonelinux as can be seen from the excerpt of the conversation we had on IRC below:. Jun 30 16:23:18 planetbeing. Linux on the iPhone. Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Hey, I would just like to tell you about a project pH is working on called QuickOIB. It is an installer for openiboot that works on Mac OS and Linux. He also tells me that he is working on a Windows version. I'm sure it'll be very useful to people wanting a quick way to get past the OpeniBoot stage and get directly to working with the Linux environment. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
