Happy as a Clam: College study tip:

Happy as a Clam. Ironically, clams are perpetually annoyed as a direct result of this stereotype. Wednesday, November 16, 2011. If you leave your book alone on a library table overnight or even for several hours, the libraries clear it away. But if you stick it spread-eagled on one of the display shelves, no one notices or cares, and it’s easily retrieved later. It’s hiding in plain sight. There’s probably a cool story in there. Maybe one written in the 1800s by Edgar Allen Poe. The time, madame:. I've j...

Happy as a Clam: premonition

Happy as a Clam. Ironically, clams are perpetually annoyed as a direct result of this stereotype. Monday, October 17, 2011. I once heard a story (originally told by Kevin Young) about Gerson Goldhaber, who was a physicist at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. He was talking on the phone with another physicist at SLAC near Stanford University near the end of the day on Tuesday, October 17, 1989. The SLAC physicist suddenly interrupted with, “Gerson, I have to go! There’s a very big earthquake happening!

I Want My Tears Back - Nightwish. The treetops, the chimneys, the snowbed stories, winter grey. Wildflowers, those meadows of heaven, wind in the wheat. A railroad, across water, the scent of grandfatherly love. Blue bayous, Decembers, moon through a dragonfly's wings -. Where is the wonder? Where's dear Alice knocking on the door? Where's the trapdoor that takes me there? Where the real is shattered by a Mad March Hare? Where is the wonder? Where are the sleepless nights I used to live for? He lost in me.

Dandelions - Five Iron Frenzy. In a field of yellow flowers, underneath the sun. Bluest eyes that spark with lightning - boy, with shoes undone. He is young, so full of hope, revelling in tiny dreams. Filling up his arms with flowers, right for giving any queen! Running to her, beaming bright while cradling his prize. A flickering of yellow light within his mother's eyes -. She holds them to her heart, keeping them where they'll be safe. Clasped within her very marrow, dandelions in a vase! From the shad...

Ethics and Madness in Beowulf. Okay, interesting fact time! That the authoritative translation of Beowulf (by Frederick Klaeber) makes the interesting choice of translating the word differently depending on to whom it is applied - 'warrior'/'hero' for Beowulf, 'monster'/'demon'/'fiend' for Grendel or Grendel's mother, 'wretch'/'monstrous woman' for æglæcwif (a feminine form used for Grendel's mother) - does not simplify matters. Thinking about good and evil. Balance Slays the Demon - Poets of the Fall.

I don't know if you've noticed that I'm really bad at this 'updating the blog on a regular schedule' thing? There's not even really much of an excuse for it; it's not as though I'm working on more important things (well, I am, but I'm spending a lot of poorly-prioritised time on less important things, too). I'll have to try to get back into the habit. It's an open secret in Calc II that I have paid scarcely any attention in class at all, and still. Set the grade scale for the rest of the class. The extra...

Can someone explain this? And experiments which may cause it are strongly discouraged if not outright forbidden by ethics committees. My question is - why? What inflicted insight basically amounts to is exposing the less savoury or comfortable facets of a person's own psyche and forcing them to confront them. How could this be considered an undesirable result? The test subject believes something about himself or herself that is wrong, and the researcher is not only helping him or her to Know Thyself.

As I continued to try to justify my unfounded thoughts on the matter it also occurred to me that determination was far less important to your success than accurate judgement - since, after all, if your ideas are wrong your inner drive is worthless and if your ideas are right then your determination just hastens what is ultimately inevitable! At some point I discovered and became obsessed with the reductio ad absurdum. Oh, and G. K. Chesterton's introduction to Orthodoxy. Thinking about g k chesterton.

The Cat and the Moon - The Lord of the Rings. It's a good day for nonsense! There’s an inn of old renown. Where they brew a beer so brown. Moon came rolling down the hill. One Hevnsday night to drink his fill! On a three-stringed fiddle there,. Played the Ostler’s Cat so fair. The hornèd Cow that night was seen. To dance a jig upon the green! Called by the fiddle to the middle of the muddle where the cow with a caper sent the small dog squealing,. Downsides went up - hey! Outsides went wide,. But the Moo...

I've just heard about this plan for the U. S. National Treasury to mint a $1,000,000,000,000 platinum Coin and deposit it in the Federal Reserve in order to alleviate congressional spending issues. Read about it here. My opinion: this sounds equal parts amazing, ingenious, and absurd. Therefore the government should do it and I fully support it. I propose the following additions to the plan:. Fine - have them scratch a really simple design into it and keep its true appearance a secret! Everyone knows rar...

Monday, 26 March 2018. Tokyo Night Sky is Always the Densest Shade of Blue. Is there a name for this genre of film? Lovelorn, confused and underpaid people struggle through their twenties in carefully framed shots of big city life accompanied by a well-chosen indie rock soundtrack. There must be. I've seen so many. This one, however, is one of the best. Even after just twenty minutes, I sat there and thought to myself "This film is brilliant.". I was delighted to find this film and I had that feeling aft...
