Vern Hunt's 'Surround' DLG wing. Vern has been kind enough to keep me up to date with the building of his Christian Behren 'Surround' DLG you can down load the plans as pdfs from post no.43 here. Vern used white foam, a carbon spar and 1/32nd balsa sheet covered in tissue for his version. 15m pack away wing. At least I think this was 1.5m span! I moved away from the MH45 after this model, I've found other sections to be more forgiving and better suited to my setups and flying style. This 'wing was a good flyer in moderate to strongish conditions, a good speed range, reasonable aerobatics (though barrelly rolls) and good thermal perfomance. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Local scratch build maestro John keeps all his models to a handy size. Having dabbled with the odd delta in the past, he decided to have a go at a slightly higher aspect ratio design. Vern Hunt's built up wing. This wing was been built by Vern with inspiration from light weight free flight models. The wing uses traditional built up balsa construction finished in tissue. All up weight is about 9oz and it uses the Selig 5020 aerofoil with no washout. Vern intends to bungee launch the model and use it for flat field work. 28 December 2011 at 07:14. 52" span built up wing, sheeted in 1/16th balsa. Clark YH section and a fair bit of washout. A floaty, stable wing that needed a lot of reflex to fly, though I think. This was due to excessively forward cg position. Met its maker when. The rx battery died in flight, such a painful way of getting to grips. With the foibles of nimh packs. Third scale Swift from Vern Hunt's plans. Vern built this model as a test bed for a full scale version. You can't beat the sight of the sun shining through a built up structure and this wing has a full 4 metres worth. It's easy to build and looks lovely in the sky. All the information you need is here.
