Chronicles of my pursuits in fabrics and life. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Bibs are for grown ups now. See. You should be able to tell from my face. Inspired by a necklace my lovely roommate has, I tried doing flower shapes first, but found them too busy looking for my necklace. I decided simple circles were a less fussy look but, unfortunately, I could not avoid the fussiness of cutting them all out and hand sewing them all on. This time I took the strips cut from yet another old t-shirt and wound them up into little rosette type things. Then I sewed each rosettes down to itself so that it would stay together. This was a huge pain in the ass. Then I sewed the rosettes to another strip from the same shirt. And voila, a pom pom necklace is born. I guess sew. Naw, I totally listened, she knows what's up. A while ago I went through my closet and took out all the things I never wear and put them in a big black garbage bag to take to Salvation Army. But the bag sat and sat and sat and eventually I ended up going through it again and cutting up all the clothes and putting them back together as necklaces. This is the first one. Nothing too crazy, and certainly nothing to difficult. It's just loops from the bottom of a t-shirt!

Chronicles of my pursuits in fabrics and life. Tuesday, September 1, 2009. I make a dress. and a back story:. Time for a break from necklaces and t-shirts. This is a dress I cut out earlier in the summer but never put together. Well, today was finally the day. The fabric is vintage curtains and the dress pattern is vintage as well (I modified it though because old patterns give whacked out directions, I also added pockets because I'm very important and I need to carry things). Good to be back?
