SCA period lace bobbins. I've been making lace bobbins off and on for a long time now. I started because I wanted interesting bobbins, but didn't want to pay the rather high prices for them. Plain wooden or plastic ones are available rather cheaply but are boring. Of course, if you make lace bobbins, and you are in the SCA, sooner or later you want to make period ones. My husband feeding October Dawn(Toby) some horsebread. A findings paper on making medieval horse feed. I've been toying with the idea of horsebread for a while. Originally, I found a reference to "horsebread" in a manual on keeping horses. It refers to how many loaves of horsebread each horse got in addition to hay and grain. What the heck is horsebread? Who, what, when, where, why. When is pretty easy, they used it in SCA. Bread to feed to horses. But then there are references to people eating it too.
