Tuesday, January 03, 2006. 100 films: The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. There was a time where Pod People did not mean "owners of iPods. Invasion of the Body Snatchers. 1] is about that time. One one level, it is a movie that helped make the sci-fi/horror picture the noble film genre that it is today. I don't watch sci-fi /horror pictures generally, but I am assuming Invansion. I guess, if you're into that sort of thing, or, if you feel like watching 100 films. 1] More from IMDB.

Sunday, December 11, 2005. 100 Films: Citizen Kane. This is the way Mr. Hitchcock relates the concept of the McGuffin to François Truffaut [1][2]:. It might be a Scottish name, taken from a story about two men in a train. One man says, 'What's that package up there in the baggage rack? And the other answers, 'Oh that's a McGuffin.' The first one asks 'What's a McGuffin? So you see, a McGuffin is nothing at all. Most mystery storied have a McGuffin, and Citizen Kane. 1] See Truffaut's Hitchcock. Ok: I've ...

Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Stop Grinning at Persians. A fine example of a demonstration was the Boston Tea Party, where outraged Americans disguised as Indians dumped British tea into the harbor. Later, Indians disguised as outraged Americans dumped actual British into the harbor. Following that, the British disguised as tea, dumped each other into the harbor. Finally, German mercenaries clad only in costumes from The Trojan Women. Leapt into the harbor for no apparent reason. That none of it matters?

Thursday, June 30, 2005. The concept of sacrilege. Since the Enlightenment, it has been normal for Europeans to think of society as a contract. The novelty of the idea is two-fold: first, it implies that social membership is a free choice. Second, it suggests that all members of society are currently living. Neither of those thoughts is true. But, without religion, people tend to believe. Posted by mattreed @ 9:03 PM. Monday, June 27, 2005. Words, words, words. Posted by mattreed @ 10:52 PM. Tuesday, January 03, 2006. Hello Resolvers. Hello to you all. If the revolution comes. I won't be too suprised or all that disappointed. Indeed, I tried to write a patriotic poem on 4 July 2004 that started:. And if America should fall,. Let it fall swiftly. It is good to be young and vain. So: hello fellow resolvers. Let's fail together! Wake up the King. Wake up the Queen. Everybody laugh. Everybody sing. It's over." [2]. 2] Beulah. Hello Resolven. Posted by mattreed @ 11:27 PM.

http://mlreed.blogspot.com/2006/01/100-films-baby-face.html
Monday, January 02, 2006. 100 Films: Baby Face. I can't help feeling a certain kinship with Baby Face. It is useful to compare Baby Face. To The Lady Eve. A far superior film also staring Stanwyck in a very similar role [3]. In The Lady Eve. The plot has more depth and richness, the message is more complex, and the characters are more nuanced. Baby Face. Might be seen as a sketch and precursor to Eve. Which would be made 8 years later. It is also helpful to notice that Eve. 1] More from Lucas.

Saturday, October 29, 2005. 100 Films: The Awful Truth. 1) A marriage must be based upon faith. 2) If a couple has a beloved pet, they should make sure to put some language about it in their prenuptial agreement. 1] See The Awful Truth. On IMDB or Lucas's review. 2] Not to be mixed up with The Awful Tooth. Little Rascals movie from the following year, or the Michael Moore anti-corporation TV series. 3] Thanks to IMDB, I learned that this is a remake of a 1929 film (which I believe was based on a play).
