The further adventures of Ian Sarah and Emily
Australia2010: Jan 27, 2010
http://www.imack4.com/2010_01_27_archive.html
Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Next stop - Cairns (Jan 19). The day after Bondi Beach we left Sydney as we have a camper booked in Cairns so needed to get up there. We flew on Virgin Blue, which was lovely after our Air Canada experience. Although I spent a lot of time trying to pack all the heavy things in the smaller bag to ensure our luggage was underweight, in the end I threw some last minute stuff in the bigger bag which put it way over weight (29kg instead of 23kg – oops). Australia2010: A couple of other pic's
http://www.imack4.com/2010/02/couple-of-other-pics.html
Wednesday, February 17, 2010. A couple of other pic's. Tomorrow we leave Coff's Harbour for Hunter Valley to do a day of wine tasting before heading back to Sydney. We leave Monday, back to reality. Right now this is the only location for this shop, buy they have big plans to expand. I didn't think their coffee was as good as some other local coffee we've tried, but the marketing is definitely catchy. Also, we've barely seen any Starbucks here, which was a refreshing change. A couple of other pics.
Australia2010: A couple more pictures from Whitsundays
http://www.imack4.com/2010/02/couple-more-pictures-from-whitsundays.html
Monday, February 15, 2010. A couple more pictures from Whitsundays. Ian's compressed the pictures which makes uploading way more reasonable now that what I've been doing so far this trip. Back at Hook Island. I'm sure these fish know that fairly regularly bread arrives in this part of the ocean, so they stay close. At Whitehaven Beach and Daydream Island. Crazy coloured fish at the manmade living coral reef on Daydream Island. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Agnes Water and 1770.

Monday, February 15, 2010. Agnes Water and 1770. We really liked it here. We camped right on the beach, and there was a great cafe very near us, where I got to have a glass of wine vs out of a plastic cup in the camper! Nice sunny Australia - ha ha. The next day all roads in and out of Agnes were closed, so we were lucky we left when we did! They've had so much rain that it didn't take much more to start the roads flooding. The tour was an hour through a number of different caves, including squishing thr...

Monday, December 21, 2009. That's all folks. That's Europe 2009. Ian took over 4,000 pictures in total during the six weeks we were away so if anybody is interested in seeing more pictures of the places we've visited, we'd be happy to share (over a beverage of course! Next stop - Australia 2010. Monday, December 21, 2009. Here's the mandatory self portrait - Ian as usual is concentrating very hard on getting us all in the picture. Christmas, right this way! Hmmmmm, more gingerbread. Last Stop - Malta.

Thursday, November 12, 2009. TV or coffee anyone? The TV shot is this crazy apartment building that spans above a road that Ian discovered when he was here in February (Brie, this place is close to the falafel place). As you can see, we think that every single apartment in the place has one (or more) satellite dishes attached to its balcony. Thursday, November 12, 2009. Thursday, November 12, 2009. Emily's fond memories of Checkpoint Charlie. Emily couldn't stop talking about this wiener guy for hours!

Saturday, November 21, 2009. Leaning Tower of Eiffel? This was the first of a few visits to the Eiffel Tower while we were in Paris. (Emily's carousal ride was also right there hence the multiple trips). When we first arrived at our apartment Monday night, we came from the underground Metro escalator which delivered us onto the street with a perfect view of the top half of the tour, which was a nice welcome to Paris. And here's Emily on the horses with the Tower in the background. After walking around th...
Europe2009 and a bit of Africa (Egypt): Last Stop - Malta
http://imack4europe.blogspot.com/2009/12/last-stop-malta.html
Monday, December 21, 2009. Last Stop - Malta. Our last port on the Cruise was Malta. I was especially excited we were stopping here as my Uncle was actually born on this island, and my mom lived here for a short period of time when she was really young. I'm really sad my grandparents are no longer around, as I would have loved to tell them that we had a chance to visit this lovely island. And some more pictures as we approached the port:. Here's the Wikipedia summary about the island. 1,510 km to the east.
Europe2009 and a bit of Africa (Egypt): Egypt, continued
http://imack4europe.blogspot.com/2009/12/egypt-continued.html
Monday, December 21, 2009. Our first stop in Cairo was to the Muhammad Ali mosque. Here's the wikipedia definition, FYI. Seeing inside the Citadel and the mosque itself was quite a contrast from the sights of downtown Cairo. The Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha. مسجد محمد علي, Turkish. Mehmet Ali Paşa Camii. Is a mosque situated in the Citadel of Cairo. And commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha. Between 1830 and 1848. Situated on the summit of the citadel, this Ottoman. The most visible mosque in Cairo. Europe2009 and a bit of Africa (Egypt): Egypt - Part One
http://imack4europe.blogspot.com/2009/12/egypt-part-one.html
Monday, December 21, 2009. Egypt - Part One. Prior to arrival, I don’t think it had sunk in with either Ian or I that we were actually setting foot, not just at a new port for a two day visit, but also a new continent – Africa. Realizing that at the age of two, Emily was now visiting a second continent on this trip, made this port even more significant. The port where we docked is located at Alexandria, 3 hours away from Cairo. The ancient sites are even more impressive in real life than you can imagine.
Europe2009 and a bit of Africa (Egypt): Emily and Egypt
http://imack4europe.blogspot.com/2009/12/emily-and-egypt.html
Monday, December 21, 2009. Emily was very popular in Egypt. At one point while her and I were in the National Museum, we sat down by an old Egyptian lady on a bench. The woman was friendly looking and Emily asked her what her name was. I was explaining to Emily that the lady couldn’t speak English and then pointed to Emily and said her name to the old lady, as she was listening at this point. The lady then proceeded to go find her daughter and her friends so that she could introduce her to Emily.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Tuesday, December 15, 2009. It's different when you are on "vacation". BTW, I have officially now become a beer drinker I think I can report, as I did drink beer in every country we visited - does that make it official? I will update the blog with more pictures , etc from both Egypt and Malta (my future retirement home, I think) over the next day or so. Tuesday, December 15, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
