My hand in daguerreian history. Haven’t had as much time for much plate making this year as I am heavily involved with one of my better ideas – the ImageObject exhibit and symposium. The idea got mooted after a chance meeting with the Director of the Center for Alternative Photography in NYC, back in in 2011. Filed under Community work. Much of this year has been spent in a big learning curve about stainless steel and electrical heat engineering. The goal was to come up with a design for a Daguerreotype mercury pot to be made commercially available for sale, based on my experience as a mercurial daguerreotypist. The pot is finished with a hammer finish paint application and has clear acrylic walls to buffer the rush of cold air experienced in fume hoods. AC electric heating system.
