Demo Diary: "The King Of Rats". City Of Mud (under construction). After spending the past three years working, living, wrestling with demons and hanging out with angels, I found a bit of time to write songs for a second album. In the past 3 years, I sketched out over 50 songs, all the time thinking about my musical direction. I worked up enough courage to start recording in June. And I've inadvertently managed to slip into the next phase of making the second album:. Labels: City of Mud. The King Of Rats.

Continuing the series of posts on the album songs. The fifth song on the album is "Flowers". Musically the song is inspired by two things: Watching Rhythm In Bronze/Gamelan Club for the first time and of course, one of my biggest musical influences, Bjork. It's more obvious if you hear the midi arrangement. The album version not so. The hunky image in the picture at the top of this post I stole from Gengoroh Tagame's erotic art site. His face drawn in five directions. In his hair the smell of almonds.

The second song on the album is called "Tomas". I've told the story about how I wrote it a few times at gigs and stuff but I'll recount it here for the blog's sake. S film Before Night Falls. 2000), based on the memoirs of the late Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas. That one image haunted me. That one could be persecuted for one's sexuality is something that's so hard to comprehend. That the state could have that kind of power over someone's life, passion, love. It boggles the mind. She lights up your eyes.

All The Lovers" (Kylie Minogue cover) on Soundcloud. The other day I bought a digital multitrack recorder so I can start recording at home. I work on music at a moody pace and like the idea of doing things DIY. Recording quality is an issue. But I can't afford it. frankly speaking. So I'm just going cheap and lo-fi. Expect the new album to sound rougher. This is for all the lovers out there. Jerome - All The Lovers (Kylie Minogue cover). Labels: All The Lovers. Written at 4:03 AM by JK. JK on Tw* * r.

The crowd reception to it was a surprise. People liked it. They liked the chorus. Because it was "sexcellent". LOL. I must admit it's also not as weirdass as some of my other songs. So I decided to play it more often. Over the years, because more people seemed to remember the chorus, I decided to change the title to "This Excellent Love". LOL And you can see it by following the tags to an older post. In a write-up he did about my upcoming album in The Jakarta Post. Paul described the song as a "cynic's r...

Gordon Freddy Boyong, RIP. We also talked about other things: family troubles, high school crushes, yo-yo-ing grades, our hopes and dreams for the future- which included writing songs for Madonna and directing her music videos, styling her shoots, and other sorts of stupidities. He was my ultimate confidante. And I'd like to believe that I was his. I miss you Gordon. Until we meet again. Labels: Gordon Freddy Boyong. Written at 2:17 AM by JK. There were 2 things that amazed me the most of him:. From Him ...

Flying high above the breeze. It’s a cloudless sky. Where there used to be trees. And if you pass that way. Take a picture when you leave. Make you laugh someday. As you fold your memories. And if she makes you stay. To keep her warm and watch TV. When you pass this way again. Promise you’ll remember me. And we will never stop. Making our way to the sea. We will always crave. A little yearning to be free. And if you find that day. One you thought you could be. I hope you’ll notice that. JK on Tw* * r.

Continuing the series of posts on the songs from the album. Song number ten is "The Magic Word". In the past some of my friends have asked me "Why don't you write a song about me? Anyway, he did ask the question. "Why don't you write a song about me? Or maybe it was more like "Would you ever write a song about me? Being tactful, I answered, "Maybe." People can be quite sensitive. It wasn't until much later. that the song came about, after a bit of time and distance. Anthony, where do we go from here.

Well, it doesn't happen very often. ha ha ha. Still, I felt it needed something else. Cello part? LOL it was a relief when it was finally done. after months of listening to the track over and over thinking "What's missing, goddarnit? Mother, the clouds are watching you. They grow dark, so dark. And look, mother.
