See-Dub: For Tim.
http://www.see-dub.com/2009/12/i-dont-know-how-to-write-this.html
Friday, December 25, 2009. I don't know how to write this. Since we got the news yesterday, I've felt compelled to write something—anything—as a tribute to our friend Tim Head. Granted, this is an entirely selfish endeavor. Nobody needs me to add to the dozens of Facebook comments written to and about him, but I. Need to write down these feelings to process, to acknowledge, to grieve. But when I try to describe Tim's place in our lives, I just can't. This house we're so thankful to ( finally. Doesn't qui...

See-Dub: Is this the little boy I carried?
http://www.see-dub.com/2015/08/is-this-little-boy-i-carried.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2015. Is this the little boy I carried? In just 12 days, Ryan moves to Austin to begin his college adventure. I'm so proud, so excited. And so very sad. Since when do they allow babies to enroll in college? He can't possibly be old enough to leave home! Of course, my excitement and eager anticipation for him far outweigh my blues, but this "letting go" stuff is not for the weak. I'm filled with self-doubt (Did we teach him too little? Did we spoil him too much? How do we spell Texas?

See-Dub: Day 3: Magic Mountain and Rose Parade Eve.
http://www.see-dub.com/2010/12/day-3-magic-mountain-and-rose-parade.html
Friday, December 31, 2010. Day 3: Magic Mountain and Rose Parade Eve. While Ryan and the rest of the All-Birdville Band were in Buena Park at Knott's Berry Farm, Katie and I headed north to Valencia and Six Flags Magic Mountain. We had heard that Magic Mountain had more thrill rides, and since we could get in free with our Six Flags season passes, we decided we didn't have to follow the band this time. Besides, Magic Mountain closed at 6 that day, so we knew we wouldn't be tempted to stay out too late.

See-Dub: Nashville mission trip, part 4: Homeward bound.
http://www.see-dub.com/2014/07/nashville-mission-trip-part-4-homeward.html
Friday, July 11, 2014. Nashville mission trip, part 4: Homeward bound. With our week of work behind us, we were ready to get back to Texas. On the road again. Texas, our Texas! Big D skyline looked mighty fine. I'm thankful for safe travels and for the opportunity to serve some of Nashville's youngest, to worship and study with other Christ-followers, and to get to know some of our own youth group better. What a great week it was! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). How do we spell Texas? Nashville missi...

See-Dub: Hello muddah, hello faddah...
http://www.see-dub.com/2008/07/after-first-service-this-morning-we.html
Sunday, July 06, 2008. Hello muddah, hello faddah. After first service this morning, we loaded up the people mover and headed to Oklahoma for middle school camp. Our campers were certainly excited! Our 21 HCC kids are among 330 campers from across Texas and Oklahoma who have converged on the OC campus this week. I'm here as a "dorm mom," a post for which I feel miserably underqualified! My answer to most questions today has been "I don't know"! I carry a radio! Fortunately for him, he's not in my dorm!

See-Dub: Messages from my mom.
http://www.see-dub.com/2014/08/messages-from-my-mom.html
Sunday, August 24, 2014. Messages from my mom. Throughout the day, though, the sadness managed to sneak in. A couple of times at work, I had to write “Aug. 22” on a form, and there it was. Or maybe it was a fleeting thought of how I missed these particular inservice days two years ago. Memories of hospice and phone calls and funeral arrangements surfaced, so I would just dive right back into my work. But two times during the day, Mom showed up at my desk. What a comfort to see that neat manuscript! Click...

Monday, July 07, 2014. Nashville mission trip, part 1: Getting there. It's a blessing to have a job that allows me to serve students and our community during the school year while giving me time to pursue other projects during the summer. It was a real privilege to accompany our church's high schoolers on their mission trip to Nashville, Tenn., July 5-11. You can see how thrilled Katie was to have her mom as a sponsor. Ooh-WEEE, was that fun! Lunch stop four square in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Since it was ...

See-Dub: Vacation 2010: DC - Newseum.
http://www.see-dub.com/2010/10/july-12-13-2010-dc-newseum.html
Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Vacation 2010: DC - Newseum. CAUTION: All-out journalism geekfest ahead! For a time, the Newseum was just a website I'd visit to see " Today's Front Pages. Well, to start with, this place is one giant tribute to the First Amendment. A GIANT tribute. Literally. Right out there, carved in the front façade. It all starts with the giant screen in the atrium, complete with AP images from around the world. Berlin Wall and guard tower. The "G-Men and Journalists" exhibit features evidenc...
