I Make Lots of Things

I Make Lots of Things. Further musings of a compulsive crafter. Monday, May 31, 2010. This Memorial Day weekend has been one of the worst in my memory weather-wise, with constant rain or drizzle and temperatures well below normal. Fortunately it's kicked my domestic side into high gear, and I've been busy in the kitchen. Yesterday it was tortillas:. Little soft taco-sized numbers, and so easy to make:. 2 cups all-purpose, unbleached white flour. 1/4 cup palm shortening (original recipe calls for lard).

I Make Lots of Things: March 2009

http://www.imakelotsofthings.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

I Make Lots of Things. Further musings of a compulsive crafter. Saturday, March 21, 2009. Spring.it's what's for dinner! It's been a tough winter. I mean as tough as wimps like us Pacific Northwesterners ever see. Temps in the single digits, seven*TEEN* inches of snow. Pity us, oh folks with actual weather. We're just not built for this. Which is not to be confused with Nelly Furtado:. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Our Cob Cottage (work in progress). Spring.its whats for dinner!

I Make Lots of Things: Sprung

http://www.imakelotsofthings.blogspot.com/2009/04/sprung.html

I Make Lots of Things. Further musings of a compulsive crafter. Sunday, April 5, 2009. Today's the first day of spring. I know what the calendar says, but nature's clock has other ideas. Today was so beautiful I could (and can still) taste it. I spent this liminal afternoon putting together the first half of the garden beds. Who says print news is dead? From where I stand, it's positively writhing with worms. April 6, 2009 at 7:46 PM. Eventually, the day will come when I have to give up hot peppers. ...

I Make Lots of Things: Happy Independence Day!

http://www.imakelotsofthings.blogspot.com/2009/07/happy-independence-day.html

I Make Lots of Things. Further musings of a compulsive crafter. Saturday, July 4, 2009. It's been a while, huh? Rather than discuss the Founding Fathers, or the pros and cons of nationalism, or even how my stupid neighbors are already shooting off fireworks in our tinder-dry neighborhood.before 10:00 am.I'll just tell you about my newest project:. It works surprisingly (to me, anyway) well. Yesterday I baked (or, technically, more like steamed. July 7, 2009 at 5:52 PM. July 8, 2009 at 9:10 AM. You know, ...

I Make Lots of Things. Further musings of a compulsive crafter. Saturday, April 18, 2009. It, like, totally worked! Yup, my too-cheap-to-live seed germination solution worked perfectly and insanely. Quickly. Like, tomatoes and basil germinating in three days. Here they are, tucked under lights and lookin' good:. The only thing resisting are the chilies (poblano and jalapeno). Maybe they're waiting for the completion of the greenhouse? That's cool. I wouldn't trust me either. Links to this post. Just add ...

I Make Lots of Things: Fermentapalooza

http://www.imakelotsofthings.blogspot.com/2010/05/fermentapalooza.html

I Make Lots of Things. Further musings of a compulsive crafter. Sunday, May 23, 2010. I've fairly recently become hopelessly addicted to kimchi. I've had the ultra-hot, mushy, canned variety and was none too impressed. Inspired by my New Favorite Person, Novella Carpenter. Seriously, read her book, Farm City. Now), I've come to realize how easy it is to make fresh, delicious kimchi at home. And often out of stuff that might otherwise end up in the compost bin. For example, my newest experiment:.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010. I need a vacation! My rant for the moment. God love em! Dyed some yarn, came out bubblegum pink. Like I was going for that. Found out I could over dye and tone it down a bit. But as we speak I am working on using one skein to make a shibori felted scarf just for s@! And giggles. I have a plan we'll see if it works out better than the last pink one I had. All for fun. I need a vacation. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The HiP Paris Blog. http://woolarious.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 17, 2010. Gifted yarn and a winter day! So this is a scarf I am almost finished with. It is organic wool from 13 mile wool mill. It is hand dyed and spun by my friend Katey. A thick and thin single plied. With a thin thread. A summer group we attended where we weekly tried a new technique out of Judith MacKenzie's. As a gift, but it is meant for someone artsy for sure. It is a series of pure imagination(s) so hmm. Who to gift it too? Winter.oh wait. wtf. Tuesday, June 8, 2010.

http://woolarious.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 28, 2008. Now I am ready to weave. So I haven't done much of anything lately as far as knitting goes. I did manage to work with the drop spindle while camping this weekend. I spun some lilac colored merino wool. Was working really consistently as far as tension a size. Only problem was no shade and was on the shore of the lake and got way to hot to continue. Had to just get in the water and cool off. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The HiP Paris Blog. Half a dream away.

http://woolarious.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-year-best-of-intentions.html

Thursday, February 17, 2011. New Year, Best of Intentions. I have decided that this is a year of snail mail. I am so tired of nothing but bills and ads in my PO. Box and decided that I wanted to make sure that people I love get a sweet little note or art or treat in the mail on a regular basis. I am committing myself to this and know that I will let only myself down if I fail to do this. But for a yarn addict. I also have set a goal for myself to read 24 books this year. That's. so what?

I wish I was brave. I wish I was stronger. I wish I could feel no pain. I wish I was young. I wish I was shy. I wish I was honest. I wish I was you not I. Cause I feel so mad. I feel so angry. I feel so callused. So lost, confused, again. I feel so cheap. So used, unfaithful. I wish I was smart. I wish I made cures for. I wish I had power. I wish I could lead. I wish I could change the world. For you and me. Cause I feel so mad. I feel so angry. I feel so callused. So lost, confused, again. I feel so mad.
