Monday, March 29, 2010. Spring is always a good time for a new start. it's too bad that i always need to be kicked in the ass to get myself to make these changes and embrace these new beginnings. I spent the weekend looking at possible rentals and sorting through a few things. the later is an interesting task when you have lived in one place for almost 32 years. the former wasn't much fun either knowing that it will only be temporary, maybe a year, maybe 2. Friday, March 26, 2010. One was my blossom doll...

Kathleen McMahon California Paintings in Oil and Wax Encaustics
http://kathleenmcmahon.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Original California paintings- landscape and abstract, in oil and encaustics. Sunday, June 18, 2006. Weekend with the Arts. This weekend was pretty productive for doing and being around art for me. What I accomplished:. 1 Worked a little more on my encaustic, getting the red stripe in the middle. It has a little texture and I'm proud of my straight lines, given I'm working with heated wax. 2 Started a knife minimalist oil painting of a marin sunset that is 24x30". Posted by KatieMoe at 6:26 PM. Still lif...

Original California paintings- landscape and abstract, in oil and encaustics. Sunday, August 27, 2006. Beware of the Rocks. I didn't get any artwork done on Saturday, but I did attend the monthly meeting of the West Coast Encaustic Artists. There were some new faces there and we continue to prepare for our inaugural exhibition of encaustic artwork at the O'Hanlon Center in October. There certainly has been a lot of volunteer work people have put in preparing for it! Posted by KatieMoe at 7:44 PM. I've be...

http://kathleenmcmahon.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Original California paintings- landscape and abstract, in oil and encaustics. Sunday, May 28, 2006. Between each layer I took a razor blade and scraped back the wax until there a relatively smooth surface and then I fused that layer with the heat gun and then went on to the next layer. Encaustics are a pretty process-intensive art form. You can see more clearly now how the wax drips on the frame section and that is why painters tape on all of the black frame was a good preventative move. Because yellow a...

Original California paintings- landscape and abstract, in oil and encaustics. Sunday, July 30, 2006. Okay, maybe my koi fish painting is not evolving as Darwin would understand it, but progressing it is. I worked on it Saturday and got most of the color in. Those grey circles are eventually going to be bubbles, but their "evolutionary" stage is still currently just grey circles. Posted by KatieMoe at 3:21 PM. Sunday, July 23, 2006. More Was Hot Than The Wax. This one is called "Leap of Faith":. Today was...
