I used to be scared of this disease. Why is it happening? Was this karmic justice for something i had done? Something i hadn't done? I changed my view. i had to. i could let this affect him in the negative way it was affecting me, or i could learn to embrace it and teach him the same. So thats what i did. Well, we're going to put in a port. As other hemo parents know, the doctors are always checking inhibitor levels too (well, every six months or so). evan has always come back with a negative inhibitor, but sara (our hemo nurse) is thinking that he has one that just isn't detectable by their measurments. Our son, the medical anamoly. So we got e's blood results back from his lab draw this week. first, his factor level was above 1% after 72 hours which i am told is what they want to see. so, yay. the two tests he got (the lupus anticoagulant and the mono test) were hopefully going to solve the mystery of the decreasing factor level. but.its not to be. both tests came back negative. Late wednesday night we were moved from the picu to the regular family suites at the childrens hospital. basically we just moved down the hall, but it felt like such a different place. it was far less restricted and a little more happy (in terms of colors and things to do). Anyway, the mixing study results came back positive for some sort of inhibitor activity. or, at least, i think that's what they said. there is so much that i don't understand right away and i tend to get my facts confused. What Would You Do Without Galaxy Glue? Tuesday, June 16, 2009. For the past few months my house has been taken over by Brandon's former band For Life. A little over 10 years ago their friend and drummer Shane died from a drug overdose. It hit everyone really hard, as evidenced by the number of people who came in from all over to see the show. I know Brandon was excited to play and see old friends. Shane's parents couldn't make it, but sent a letter which Erik read to the crowd. Then they started playing.

Monday, July 6, 2009. Well, we had a really great July 4th weekend! It started on Friday at Zilker Park in Austin. The kids played on the playground and we did the train ride. After that we ate burgers and snow cones looking over Barton Springs. I forget what a neat town Austin is! On Saturday we drove to Belton and met up with David's side of the family to watch the annual July 4th parade. It was great even though it was like a million degrees! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Yep, I'm a little crazy today, but in good spirits. The surgery is set for 9:30am but we have to be there at 8am to start the factor treatment. Saturday, May 23, 2009. Big boy had his 2nd birthday party today at the house. We had a couple of his friends over from the neighborhood and the grandparents to keep it simple. We put up his favorite outside toys/games and had pizza and a cupcake cake. The theme was Disney Cars (of course) and he had a BLAST! Here are some pics of the day. Looks like he had a great time.
