Barack - Scribblings on a Page. Aug 5th, 2010 06:42 pm Barack. Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential" (Barack Obama). August 18th, 2010 01:48 pm (UTC). Those are some very, very wise words. They are true because if one never tries they will never succeed.

Slow reads: book_exchange
http://book-exchange.livejournal.com/44374.html
Well the last book i picked up, Daughter. I put it down after 50 pages because it was moving rfeally slow with little literary affects to keep me interested. I picked up Cry, The Beloved Country. By Alan Paton and I just don't see what all the hype is about. I mean its not as slow as Daughter. But the writing isn't as good as I thought it would be. I am on page 100 and I won't put it down. But for those who have read Cry, The Beloved Country. Can you tell me some things you liked or disliked about it?

Bad reading habits: book_exchange
http://book-exchange.livejournal.com/43716.html
I don't know how I picked up this bad readnig habits, but I tend to insist on reading books in the order they were published by a particular author. I know some people do it because some authors like Louise Erdrich and Sherman Alexie use the same characters in their works. But I want to know if anyone else does this and why? Post a new comment. Any particular order? (Louise Erdrich): book_exchange
http://book-exchange.livejournal.com/43410.html
I have two Louise Erdrich books: Tracks. And The Last Report on the Miracle at Little No Horse. Is there any particular order you suggest I read these books in or do you think it really doesnt make a difference? The reason why this thought came over me is because I read Khalid Hosseini's two books in the order they came out, and I saw a vast improvment in the second book. I really like to look for the same thing in other authors. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. Post a new comment.

In need of suggestions for Native American Novels: book_exchange
http://book-exchange.livejournal.com/42858.html
In need of suggestions for Native American Novels. I am trying to write a paper on Native American literature. I am wondering if you guys can suggest some novels (fiction) based on Native American experiences, specifically at war (such as WWII), etc. I have read Ceremony, Three Day Road and am now working on The Toughest Indian In the World. Short stories would also be appreciated. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post. We will log you in after post.

Fictions, novels, poems, short stories about motherhood: book_exchange
http://book-exchange.livejournal.com/44758.html
Fictions, novels, poems, short stories about motherhood. I am in the midst of researching for my thesis for my M.A. degree and well, I am really disappointed that I can't read the books that I really want to read. As my topic is on contemporary American fiction, I was wondering if you guys can recommend some of your favorite fictions that dealt with the themes of motherhood. Any works you can think of that are similar to Evelyn Scot's Escapade. Post a new comment. We will log you in after post.

Scissor Sisters, "Better Luck". I didn't have a lot of the right equipment in my kitchen, so this was a slapdash job and I won't be attempting it again. On the plus side, it tastes nicer than it looks. Post a new comment. Comments allowed for members only. Anonymous comments are disabled in this journal. We will log you in after post.
