Driving down a gravel road, we were awestruck at the beauty of a large field of wildflowers. The field was about an acre with beauty everywhere. A gentle breeze, low humidity, and a mild temperature made this an idyllic stop. The memory of this great find was with me as I went to bed that evening. It really was a field of dreams. We are in soup season right now… It’s cold and snowy outside, and I just want large bowls of hearty, comfort food! A friend gave me this recipe on the day of my wedding shower, and it has been a favorite of mine ever since. It’s fool-proof, easy, delicious… and way more amazing than this poor-quality photo gives it credit for! Oh, and did I mention that it’s a crockpot recipe? 1 1/2 teaspoons salt.
