Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. Mark Twain. So many things to do with our move and our road trip, so little time! I made a to-do list with deadlines and an inventory of things to sell, bring and leave. Oo na, OC ako. Buti na lang. Just like everybody else. Posted by meL @ 11:33 AM. Posted by meL @ 6:50 AM.

10/2005 - Missing Finally. August 2005 marked my 8th month of unemployment here in the US my 8th month of having panis na laway from lack of daily interaction with any friend or family close to me who is not from Nino’s circle. That, among other issues, bit me hard in the (big) ass. I was falling apart. I slipped into depression, heightened mostly by PMS, but brought about by real reasons I could no longer ignore, not just my joblessness. Nothing was falling into place. Yet. We were planning to have our ...

Below is a snippet from an article published on Inquirer Youngblood, written by one of my good friends from college, Dr. Che Zablan. I'm so proud of the Filipino that you are, Che! We definitely need more people like you. I AM a doctor to the barrio. For most people, I could not have made a better choice, but for a very few, I could not have made a worse or crazier one. In fact, the moment I utter those words, I see all sorts of reactions.". Read the full article here. Labels: la visa loca. The same frie...

It was the best icing on our road-trip cake: staying with Rosie and her bro, Kuya JR for 6 days before we drove to our final destination, Los Angeles. Hollister was so laid back that the word stress was not in their vocabulary. I heard birds chirping for the first time in a very, very long time. Kuya JR would often cook for us, tatay na tatay. Ang sarap, both ng luto niya and ng feeling na alagang-alaga. Here we had some Goldilocks-classic food and ate more dumplings and sweets at Santana Row. New friend...

11/2005 My Thanksgiving Version. It’s really big here, this Thanksgiving holiday. It’s actually an even bigger holiday than Christmas. Being the curious cat that I was, I asked my officemate about the history of Thanksgiving. Like a five-year-old, I asked so many questions: Why is there a Thanksgiving Holiday? What is its significance to the American History? Why is it celebrated on November? Nino You deserve an entire blog entry. Adam You gave our family renewed joy and strength. Friends and family who ...

01/2006 Our FREE 42" TV. The best things in life are free indeed. Today, Nino and I received the best 1st year wedding anniversary gift we can ever receive a free 42 Sony Flat screen Plasma TV! Yes, you read it right: FREE! Well, actually, Nino spent about $70 for the offers he had to complete and about 4 months of waiting time, but considering that the TV cost about $1500, it was relatively free! April-May 2005 Bakasyon En Grande. 5 months ago, I went to nearly a month-long vacation to the west coast. Of course, meeting my relatives and spending time with them was the highlight of my trip, but my whole vacation actually gave me so many memories that it seems impossible to document all of them. So let me just share some of the most memorable events in chronological order. I do I’m not proud about that, but hey, it was an experience worthy of sharing! 13-Hour Drive from Reno, NV to LA, CA. 12/2005 Ang Disyembre Ko Ay Malungkot. Hay Totally relate ako sa kantang yan. It really wasn’t all that bad. I still got to spend the Eve with my new family Nino and my surrogate family here in NYC: Alice, my pinay officemate, her mom, Tita Beng, her cousin Ray and her fiancé, Jay. We still ate a ton of pinoy food, talked, laughed and even had our own little gift-giving session. We did have a lot of fun kahit kami lang, celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Two minutes away from our place is a gym called 24-Hour Fitness. At first, we thought of just looking at the gym to see if it will work for us, then maybe ask for a 10-day tryout. But we signed-up already, because the Sales Manager gave us a good Memorial Day discount, which, she says, expires today. So, diba, we really needed to sign up. Goodness. We are such suckers. Posted by meL @ 5:30 PM. We’re now 80% settled! Thank God for Tito Ike’s pick-up truck which we used to haul our mangled, murdered boxes ...
