The Barbara Walker Project. Tag Archives: Upper Canada Village. Village life…looking out my windows. I have been in a few different buildings in the last couple of weeks. A couple of weeks ago we had the Queen’s birthday celebrations. This picture was taken out of an upstairs window at Cooks Tavern where our village sedentary militia was assembled behind some visiting members of the Brockville Infantry and the Brockville Rifles. My first rhubarb pie…yeah! The bake kettle after use. May 28, 2015. I enjoye...

Technique: I-cord rose (aka go big or go home) | gillianknits

The Barbara Walker Project. Technique: I-cord rose (aka go big or go home). Alternate between two colours as you make the petals. First row green, 3 rows pink. Alternate rows within the petals in each of two colours. 1 End the hat with 15 live stitches in the last round. You may have to fudge the last round by either not decreasing as many, or decreasing a few more stitches than you should to get to the magic 15. Not to worry, the last couple of rounds are hidden under the rose anyway. 2 Make an i-cord w...

The Barbara Walker Project. Tag Archives: Patons Classic Wool. It’s 80’s bagpiper chic, Barbara. At least that is what Heather called it when I finished it. (read: that hat looks like it was designed by an out of date nerd). I said that tams were versatile and that you could pull them down over your ears and forhead if it got really cold out. She said yeah, you can even use them like a balaclava if it is really cold and took a selfie. The top turned out passable, but nothing to write home about. After ta...

The Barbara Walker Project. Barbara is having a watered down Christmas in July…. On the top in the wine and green colours. I did the top in just garter stitch, changing the colour after each row. I used 10 points of decrease and decreased with a purl two together at each on the purl rows (p8, p2tog, etc…). After the row that gave me 10 stitches left, I did the knit row, then did p2tog around and finished off. I actually quite like the effect, if I do say so myself. The Barbara Walker Project. Category Archives: Barbara Walker. A bit of Barbara in Belgrade. This is the first project I have finished on the road. Sorry, no good place to take pics. We are in Belgrade for the day. We got here on an overnight train. Found accomodation, then went for a walk around their citadel. It is a great place, fought over a lot in the past. Used as a city park now. And with great views of the rivers meeting. This entry was posted in Barbara Walker. March 26, 2016. March 15, 2016.

The Barbara Walker Project. Even Barbara gets the blues…. I hate fashion,. my kind of colours are only “in” once in a while and I have to wade through times where I don’t “get”or “feel” the current colours. Now seems to be one of those times. Give me back my pure hues, please, these shades are killing me! Spot and stripe pattern. Double Tricolor Fabric Stitch. Picking up the cast on edge…. Still unhappy, and in an i-cord kind of mood from the last hat, I added an i-cord rope at the bottom edge, then I di...
