For two of them, this is their second study trip to China, but for the other two students, this is their first time away from home and the prospect of the trip provokes a mix of excitement and anxiety for them and their families.

Was filmed between 2009 and 2012 by director Jesse Burke, who died tragically at the age of 37, while the film was in early stages of post-production. Making the film was also a personal journey for Jesse as he met his wife, Maggie Ma Peter’s Chinese teacher and a chaperone during the APSA trip – during production. Their son was in December 2012, five months after Jesse’s death.
