Democracy Inaction: The Root of All Evil
http://rjlieffortusg.blogspot.com/2008/06/root-of-all-evil.html
Wednesday, June 18, 2008. The Root of All Evil. Politicians are constantly looking for ways to fix the ever mounting problems that the country faces and it is wasting time and money because they are going at it wrong. 8217;s problems are like a weed and you don’t kill a weed by attacking leaves, you need to attack the roots. Education is the root of. Education has become a tool for limiting students as opposed to being a launch pad for their success. Teachers are forced to cover only a set curriculum for...

The Backbone of the United States. Debate and Discussion of U.S. Government for Gov. 2305. Friday, June 13, 2008. From The New York Times Editorial: " Another Failure on Climate Change. Climate change has been an issue for quite a while, but it is only recently becoming a priority in the world of politics. With being “green” becoming increasingly more popular with average citizens, we can certainly expect that we will see an abundant amount of legislation aimed at combating climate change. People can com...

Eric Hougen's Government Blog: Abortion
http://ehougengovt.blogspot.com/2008/06/abortion.html
Eric Hougen's Government Blog. Saturday, June 28, 2008. Abortion should be legal for rape victims. Women who are raped should not bear the burden of carrying the child of a maniac rapist. Sometimes abortion is the best option here. Abortions are performed in the first trimester when the fetus is nowhere near fully developed. I do not consider this to be "murder". Where do we draw the line? Can we say sperm and egg is human too, and therefore we should outlaw all forms of birth control? I don't think so.

Democracy Inaction: Accountability in Government
http://rjlieffortusg.blogspot.com/2008/06/accountability-in-government.html
Friday, June 13, 2008. The New York Times editorial "Raising the Bar at the Pentagon" applauds Defense Secretary Robert Gates's removal of two high ranking officials in the US Air Force. Even though he has only held his position for eighteen months, Gates has already done more to hold powerful members of policy responsible than just about anyone else in. I hope that Mr. Gates continues to uphold the basic American code set up in the Declaration and that others follow his example. Mr Gates may have just t...

This article, ". Can Obama say no to Clinton? Is about Hillary Clinton dropping out of the presidential election, and how Barack Obama can possibly take her on as vice president. Eric Hougen's Government Blog. Monday, June 9, 2008. In the editorial, The Cons of Creationism,. The author states how. The Texas State Board of Education is once again considering a science curriculum that teaches the “strengths and weaknesses” of evolution. If this legislation passes, this may set an example that several other states will follow. The author believes that this really just "code for teaching creationism.". The Backbone of the United States: No Child Left Behind
http://thebackboneoftheunitedstates.blogspot.com/2008/06/no-child-left-behind.html
The Backbone of the United States. Debate and Discussion of U.S. Government for Gov. 2305. Friday, June 27, 2008. No Child Left Behind. The current state of education in the United States is approaching pitiful. By teaching towards the test and always reaching for just above the passing line, our school standards are set way too low. Accountability tests like Texas’s TAKS test should not be used as a measure of whether or not our schools are doing a good job of educating our children. Students that faile...
