The Incessant Noise

Rare and forgotten experimental music. Wednesday, April 6, 2016. Everyone's streaming everything now anyway right? YouTube should be a more permanentish solution to files disappearing, at least until the next major paradigm shift in music consumption, which should happen any day now. Unfortunately sound quality is a little lower, and no hi-res scans of liner notes and covers, but better to have these pages have actual music rather than just descriptions of unavailable records. The Incessant Noise: Alvin Curran - For Cornelius / Era Ora

http://incessantnoise.blogspot.com/2011/02/alvin-curran-for-cornelius-era-ora.html

Rare and forgotten experimental music. Sunday, February 6, 2011. Alvin Curran - For Cornelius / Era Ora. As a consolation for taking down the earlier Alvin Curran LP I posted. Here's another Curran LP, though a very, very different one. For Cornelius / Era Ora. Has two pieces for piano, written in 1981 and 1986, respectively. It was Curran's first release of fully composed music performed by other people, his earlier LPs containing semi-improvised solo electroacoustic works performed by Curran himself.

The Incessant Noise: Frederic Rzewski - Coming Together

http://incessantnoise.blogspot.com/2009/08/frederic-rzewski-coming-together.html

Rare and forgotten experimental music. Sunday, August 9, 2009. Frederic Rzewski - Coming Together. Rzewski's "Coming Together" is unquestionably one of the great Minimalist masterpieces, and this first recording of it is absolutely incredibly amazing. It's ridiculous that it's never been re-released. The text comes from a letter written by Sam Melville, who was an inmate at Attica prison, and was one of the leaders of the 1971 Attica riots, where Melville was killed. The other pieces on the album are "At...

The Incessant Noise: Garrett List - Your Own Self

http://incessantnoise.blogspot.com/2009/08/garrett-list-your-own-self.html

Rare and forgotten experimental music. Monday, August 10, 2009. Garrett List - Your Own Self. I don't know a whole lot about Garrett List. According to the short bio on his website. Compilation "New Music, New York 1979", which is nice but unspectacular. "Your Own Self" is another story. The piece begins with an organ drone, and some quiet singing and reciting of phrases from the text. Gradually more instruments are introduced, primarily horns playing long tones. After a couple of minutes the bas...Side ...

The Incessant Noise: Jon Gibson - In Good Company

http://incessantnoise.blogspot.com/2010/06/jon-gibson-in-good-company.html

Rare and forgotten experimental music. Thursday, June 3, 2010. Jon Gibson - In Good Company. As a composer he's somewhat less known, though his work is really up there with all of those guys. He made two albums on Philip Glass' old Chatham Square label in the 70s, "Two Solo Pieces" and "Visitations," which have been rereleased on CD by the Italian New Tone label with bonus tracks (hard to find, but Forced Exposure. He also put out a CD on John Zorn's Tzadik. Next is John Adams' "Pat's Aria" (1987), a pie...

The Magnetic Garden: Mandalas - Mandalas (Self-released, 2013)

http://themagneticgarden.blogspot.com/2013/10/mandalas-mandalas-self-released-2013.html

Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Mandalas - Mandalas (Self-released, 2013). Hello friends. While you're awaiting my next post, I thought I would share with you another of my personal projects. Mandalas. Is an album my girlfriend and I recorded in 2009. All of our recordings were dangerously close to being lost on the same defunct laptop that held the tracks that would become my other album, Discoveries In A Brief Moment Of Clarity. Or for free at our bandcamp page. March 30, 2014 at 3:46 AM.

The Propagandist: January 2010

http://allphotographyispropaganda.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, 28 January 2010. Frederic Lebain is a french photographer, I know little to nothing about, think i saw his work on the imaginary foundation blog, his work flicks somewhat manically between surrealist collaged landscapes, to surreal still life and lomo style travel work. All of which are particularly brilliant, below is his series A SPRING IN NEW YORK. He found various locations, shot them, developed and printed then returned and reshot the piece, clever boy! To learn more about him check out:.

Tuesday, 10 August 2010. Bit of a Joel Tettamanti. Monster today, but any regulars to The Propagandist will know i do loves a bit of snow so, and as such am a massive fan of Mr Tettamanti. Born in Cameroon, Tettamanti's images evoke feelings of cold quiet isolation, his shoots take him around the world to various locations enabeling him to present the viewer with destinations they would otherwise never see, from Greenland to Romainia to Japan. Incessant Observations of Life

Incessant Observations of Life. We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect." — Anaïs Nin. Monday, May 23, 2011. Birthday and other insignificant events than why we were in school in the first place – to get an education. I do remember that I communicated differently with this group of people – I was rather dry, and yes, I will admit – I may have been snotty towards them as well. Sunday, May 22, 2011.
