An incidental language learner: July 2015
http://incidentallanguagelearner.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
An incidental language learner. Discovering languages through volunteering and travel. Monday, 27 July 2015. Learning languages in the classroom. Cons of taking group lessons. They are too long! For me anyway. Again I understand why they have to be the length they are. Most classes only meet once a week, we are working to a time-table and to make it worth everyone's time they really have to be longer than 40 minutes (my preferred maximum length of study time! It's not all negative! It's also nice to be a...

An incidental language learner: Time is flying!

An incidental language learner. Discovering languages through volunteering and travel. Thursday, 16 July 2015. I can't believe we're already half way through July. I have been so very busy, and I don't think I'll be slowing down any-time soon. Doing anything from 5-20 minutes a day. I'm at the point now where it's a regular habit to open the app daily and spend some time on there. I also have a reminder that pops up during the day if I do forget, which is very helpful. I returned to italki. And will hope...

Declarations, proclamations and obsessions of laura vecsey in the web 2.0 world. January 22, 2009. Would the last one in seattle please turn out the lights? The headline on this post comes from the Boeing Bust Years. I could not help but hear its faint echo, what with Seattles housing and job market beginning to fall in line with the increasingly dramatic national downturn. The Belgians are - or were - our neighbors. They bought a brick tudor in back of us for $840,000. Hmmmm Not a good sign at all. ...

Incidental Justice
The adventures (and non-adventures) of a marginally seasoned attorney. Friday, March 13, 2015. I was attacked by an ESPN reporter for wanting equal treatment of women. Unfortunately, this stranger who attacked me turned out to be an ESPN reporter. For context, this is the conversation I started with my twitter followers:. During this conversation, Britt McHenry, who I have since learned is a reporter on ESPN, apparently did a search for her name on twitter. Someone had mentioned her name in the conve...

incidentallearner | I'm making art and loving every minute of it!
I'm making art and loving every minute of it! First day out of the gate. Ugh…the legal stuff. December 31, 2016. According to the Canadian Encylopedia there are 52 words for snow in Inuktitut and Nunavik.
