30 July, 2007. Firefighters douse blaze in vacant house Sunday evening. SOUTH BEND — Firefighters say a vacant house fire near Indiana University South Bend may be suspicious. It happened on East Vine St. around 10 pm Sunday. Firefighters say when they arrived they found one of the home's doors unlocked and a window broken. 17 August, 2007. 3 House Fires on Same South Bend Street. Firefighters say a series of fires on the same street in South Bend overnight looks suspicious. Three fires broke out between 11 pm and midnight on Johnson Street — two vacant houses in the 1100 block, and a third in the 1300 block, which started a few hours later. The third fire started in the basement, but the family was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported in any of the fires.Arson investigations are pending for all three fires.

It happened around 10:45 am between the 77 and 78 mile markers.A truck being driven by Michael L. Hockman, of Mount Carroll, Ill., was stopped in traffic near a construction zone. Firefighters were called to the 26-hundred block of Western Avenue around 12:30 this morning. They found the rear of the house fully-engulfed with flames. Traffic on those streets was temporarily diverted as crews worked to free the man and remove his vehicle from the scene. 07 August, 2007. SOUTH BEND — Firefighters quickly put out a small fire Monday night at a Huey Street home. The South Bend Fire Department said the homeowner returned home from work about 10:15 pm and smelled smoke. When firefighters arrived at the residence, 1518 N.
