Elephant Booty Studio: September 2011
http://elephantbooty.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2011. My indigo is sporting some dainty pink flowers now. The kojyoko variety has not bloomed out yet and is supposed to have white blossoms. I think I see some buds forming on them. I am worried about a hard frost we are expected to have soon so I will have to watch and cover them if needed. The leaves and stems have taken on a reddish cast as the buds came out. A tiny spider is a bonus in this picture. The buds are just shooting out and are still green. Lots of blooms coming out.

Workshops | Alex's Natural Dye Pot

Alex's Natural Dye Pot. Experiments with paper, cloth, earth and plant dyes. Growing and Dyeing with Japanese Indigo. I’m afraid I am not planning any workshops for 2016 as we are looking to move somewhere with more space to work. I felt, due to the uncertain nature of the move, it would be unfair to plan and then have to move or cancel any workshops. At the end of the workshop you will produce various folded books as well as a textile piece to hold your findings. If students would like to bring personal...

Eucalyptus Brews | Alex's Natural Dye Pot

Alex's Natural Dye Pot. Experiments with paper, cloth, earth and plant dyes. Growing and Dyeing with Japanese Indigo. I’ve been busy playing with eucalyptus gifts from my family. E. cinerea from my sister, which produces wonderful red prints and E. globulus, from Kate, from a felled tree in Hampstead. E globulus has large leathery green sickle shaped leaves which gave colours from buttery yellow to pale orange and browns. Copper brings out the golden colours. Iron gives lovely outlines. Everything is Turning Blue | Alex's Natural Dye Pot

Alex's Natural Dye Pot. Experiments with paper, cloth, earth and plant dyes. Growing and Dyeing with Japanese Indigo. Everything is Turning Blue. I spent the night watching the country turn blue and the day watching my garden turn various shades of the same colour. The first indigo workshop of the year and blue seemed the general colour of our mood and the work. Wonderful combinations of leaves, mud, shibori and indigo made for a happy ending. Even the rain didn’t dent the creativity. May 8, 2015. If in ...

Winter Landscapes | Alex's Natural Dye Pot
https://naturaldyepot.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/winter-landscapes
Alex's Natural Dye Pot. Experiments with paper, cloth, earth and plant dyes. Growing and Dyeing with Japanese Indigo. I am gearing up for new works that will explore the world of trees. Recent experiments on papers, with winter leaves, bound and simmered have yielded tones that reflect the winter landscape. There is so little colour left in the windfalls. Yet they have given me, some lovely, ghostly leaf prints. Mark making with different potions are giving me ideas for bigger works. February 6, 2015.
