STARworks Biofuels: Waterfalls at STARworks
http://starworksbiofuels.blogspot.com/2010/07/waterfalls-at-starworks.html
Wednesday, July 28, 2010. We had a really hard rain Tuesday afternoon as you can see in the picture above. My car was at the foot of the waterfall before I took this picture. While my biodiesel jetta needed a car wash, this was a bit much! The section of the building from which this water is coming is slated for removal thanks to a grant from the Golden Leaf Foundation. And I installed these little guys. Did I mention they are really quiet? Hopefully you can read the numbers in the readout below. The...

Thursday, January 28, 2010. Tax credits expire and cold weather persists. The construction continues. What a year it has been so far! In keeping with the 3 R spirit. STARworks Biofuels: Chickens, Crickets and Credits
http://starworksbiofuels.blogspot.com/2010/06/chickens-crickets-and-credits.html
Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Chickens, Crickets and Credits. I have not blogged in many moons. Since my last post it has grown really hot and muggy, I processed some biodiesel from poultry fat for a racing fuel company, the federal biodiesel production and blender credit still. Has not been renewed, and I have a new pump for the process heat system that makes noise like a bubbling brook - can you say hammock time? You can see all of our current veggie oil partners on the STARworks Biofuels website. Word on ...

Monday, March 29, 2010. I've been remiss on my blogging the last couple months. We have made a couple batches of biodiesel now which passed testing. so the fuel is ready to burn! I'm going to step back and talk about what's happened since my last post at the end of January. Eddie Bernard, Wet Dog Glass. With the air lines run and the veggie oil I had collected, we were finally able to get rolling. David Thornton and some of his interns from Piedmont Biofuels. For more information about becoming a coop me...

STARworks Biofuels: December 2010
http://starworksbiofuels.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 16, 2010. Could it be the return of the biodiesel credit? It looks our congress might have a change of heart on the biodiesel credit. In the article below, you can read that it may be considered for renewal, along with a pile of tax cuts. I'm not sure how I feel about renewing some of the tax cuts personally, but it sure would be nice for some biodiesel plants in the country to open back up for business. Http:/ www.biodieselmagazine.com/article.jsp? Links to this post. It is even a lit...

STARworks Biofuels: August 2009
http://starworksbiofuels.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 6, 2009. Lots of space in the plant building. This week, with a sizable amount of teamwork, we extracted the other two 6400 gallon tanks from the tank farm building to make room for the biodiesel equipment from Piedmont Biofuels. It is amazing what you can accomplish with a forklift and some folks with ingenuity. Many thanks to Adam, Nick and Takuro for all the guidance and help in the process of extracting the tanks. Here are some pictures from the process. Today for a podcast on our pr...

STARworks Biofuels: September 2009
http://starworksbiofuels.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 14, 2009. We are making progress! The good people over at North Carolina Fire Protection just finished installing the sprinkler system for the biodiesel facility. Here's a snapshot of a couple sections of their handiwork. Nick recently fired up the refurbished glass furnace in the room next door, which houses STARworks Glass. Links to this post. Friday, September 4, 2009. I just saw this article in Biodiesel Magazine. In our old sock mill. Also remaining and near the control area of the...
