Selasa, 20 Desember 2011. At home, in Yndonesia. Actually, I have several homes in the land of Yang, even though I was only there for three weeks. I have a home in the megalopolis of Jakarta, another in the serene lion city of Singaraja, and finally in tongue-twistingly named Purwokerto, in the volcanic shadow of Gunung Slamet, mother of hot springs. Why do I spell the country with a Y instead of an I? Everyone and everything is connected to someone and something else. You just can’t not. Taken for a ride.

Sabtu, 24 Desember 2011. Nativity Ikon in the church of Aghía Epiphanía. What better place to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ than in a land where most people know of. Him, but don’t know. What do I mean? Well, this is the land of mosque and minaret, where five times a day starting at four in the morning the unearthly cry of the mu’ezzin. Calls the people to prayer. They know of Jesus Christ as Isa al-Masih. Second to last prophet of al-Islam. 8216;Word of God.’. Entrance gate to Aghía Epiphanía.

But we weren't going to be staying here long. Tomorrow, it was time to be off by train, to Jakarta, and home to Tangerang. Dwi had some important matters to discuss with the administration at UPH.
