Final year project by Keith Moran. Level Shifter and Amplifier. On May 12, 2014. To eliminate the negative side of the waveform the incoming signal must be shifted up to centre at different voltage other than zero volts. A resistor ladder on the inverting terminal creates a threshold of half the supply voltage. This will mean the signal will centre at 2.5 volts and be amplified by a certain gain. Test 1: Using test signal. Input test signal: sine wave 208mV Pk-Pk ( - 104). Figure 1: Proposed Circuit.

Final year project by Keith Moran. Ultrasonic Testing with Max233CPP. On April 24, 2014. To test to see if the overall range for the ultrasonic sensors could be improved, the same ultrasonic distance testing will be done with a max233cpp. A max 233 is usually powered between 3/5 volts but can increase or shift the voltage much higher if required, possibly increasing the range of a transmitter if needed. Points to note at start:. Max233 is powered by the PICkit2. Possible cause would be an echoing issue.

Final year project by Keith Moran. Ultrasonic Distance Testing with Level Shifter and Amplifier. On May 25, 2014. Gain of amplifier 1 was set to 11. Gain Formula (R1 R2)/R1. R1 = 3.3k ohms. Gain of amplifier 2 was set to 2.8. R2 = 3.3k. Tests carried out at 1, 2 and 3 metres. Output of amplifier 1 is still level shifted to centre at 2.5volts. Both the input from the ultrasonic receiver and output of amplifier 1 and 2 voltage levels were recorded. Vref = (V / (R1 R2) x R2. Vref = (V / (R1 R2) x R2.
