A taste of Frisco. I spent a wonderful three days in San Francisco the sun shone and the skies were blue but as expected it was a little chilly. As I layered up all the clothing in my possession. After much thought and planning I booked my travels and the tickets arrived this morning. A round the world ticket covering India, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, Samoa and USA. I am both excited and apprehensive about setting off alone. I am sure there will be sad and happy times ahead but for now I am focusing. On getting my backpack small and light enough to carry.only three pairs of shoes and one bag.its hell! Back to the filing. Once the rains stopped Samoa was to be the perfect south pacific destination for relaxation, beaches and interesting sights.a holiday! There are two main islands Upolu and Savai'i and I managed to get around both of them enjoying most of what they had to offer.By the end of the week as the sun came out to play I was wishing that I had a week to spend relaxing on the beach before the inevitable return to real life and the cooler climate! Its taken me a while to write this post.partly because I have had no Internet. Access and partly because. I knew it would be the last. Having learnt to make a home where ever my backpack landed and my head hit the floor has become a skill over the past 6 months but it was really nice to land back at Manchester on a cold, wet grey day, battle through the M61 traffic and get to my mum and dads for a nice sleep.the novelty. Soon wore off and my feet soon got itchy again! The highs in no particular order.

NYC Freezing my bottom off! It was very very very cold. that is my main memory of New York. It was -7 when I left.my skin got wind burnt and chaffed and I had to by a coat that a north pole adventurer would not look out of place wearing! In hindsight NYC in the depth of winter after a the longest summer ever around the world was not one of my best ideas especially as my backpack was ill equipped for the extreme. I spent just two days in NYC mooching and hanging around the city browsing the massive Macy's.

Going mad in Madurai. Reduced the crowds and touts. Acres of temple and artifacts in a gallery that most UK museums would have wet dreams over! We stumbled upon a massive market where I decided to have some clothes made by a great little tailor (one of thousands in the city) to replace my trusty linen trousers that rippd on a rickshaw! When not parting with cash at the market just watching the city be with a cold beer from the rooftop bars was wonderful. Pics show yummy prawns and sunrise at 'lands end'.
