Results and Personal Bests. Monthly Archives: March 2012. A Nelson Ski Vacation and the ROAM Randonee Rally. March 5, 2012. Karina and I spent a week skiing in Nelson that included the Kootenay Coldsmoke Powder Festival. It was a well-deserved vacation for Karina, whereas for me it was more a case of ‘getting away from already being pretty much away … Continue reading →. A Few Days in the Rockies. March 3, 2012. Results and Personal Bests. Monthly Archives: July 2013. July 19, 2013. After you run an ultra-marathon, it’s apparently compulsory that you write a long and painfully detailed report agonizing over the minutiae of your race. I know this because I read countless race reports in preparation for the Kneeknacker which was … Continue reading →. A Few Days of Efficient Ski Touring. A Quick Trip to the Desert, in Photos. Results and Personal Bests. Monthly Archives: October 2012. October 2, 2012. I use ‘jogging’ because ‘mountain running’ sounds a bit pretentious when used to describe the shuffling and brisk walking I’ve been doing. When I returned from Alaska, my desire to climb serious alpine routes was at a bit of a … Continue reading →. A Few Days of Efficient Ski Touring. A Quick Trip to the Desert, in Photos. Results and Personal Bests. November 29, 2013. It’s an ever more widely acknowledged fact that if you’re a climber, Squamish is the best place to be in North America during the summer months. Cathedral Peak with its broad Southeast Buttress in the sun. Karina arriving at the summit of Cathedral Peak. The obligatory Eichorn’s Pinnacle shot. We climbed a classic moderate route every day for nearly a week until the winds changed and the smoke pouring in from the Yosemite Rim fire became too much. Karina fol...

Results and Personal Bests. Monthly Archives: May 2013. A Few Days of Efficient Ski Touring. May 22, 2013. It would be a bit hypocritical for a person with a blog (no matter how neglected) and, as of recently, a twitter account (the horror! To claim to be against shameless self-promotion. When its time to go, you go. Sunday, March 01, 2015. Spearhead with the rascalz. In a word, superb. Felix, Julian, Scotty, Chris Courtenay and yours truly. With this group we were poised for a great day out in the high alpine. Dropping down onto the Trorey Glacier. Lone wolf in the white room. Felix and the windlip. About to do the last big climb up around Fitz. Good times going down Whirlwind. Thanks to the boys for a great day out! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

When its time to go, you go. Thursday, April 11, 2013. Shudder and Tremor Glaciers. I've been wanting to check out these glaciers for a couple of years, if you consider the Spearhead remote, then these would probably be the 'remotest' in the range. If not, well its just a really cool place to check out and guess what; you get to ski some of the longest runs in the area if you so choose. On the Pattison bootpack. Gaining the mini summit over looking the Shudder Glacier. Dreamy turns down the Shudder.

When its time to go, you go. Friday, May 02, 2014. Neve in a day or 'NIAD'. Had a great day with friends on the classic Garibaldi Neve Traverse. Took us approx 'a long time', we had trail breaking through most of the high country and some 'heat' in the alpine. Even had some whiteout downhill roped skiing through the gariblaldi ice fall. Great day! Thanks Jasmin and Scotty. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Neve in a day or NIAD. Picture Window template. Powered by Blogger.

Sunday, July 26, 2015. Mystery and Beaujolais Peaks. Following a moose up the Hurley FSR. We stopped and waited for him to disappear off the road. A few minutes later, I drove around the corner and found him again. From the parking spot, head south, crossing the creek twice. Occasional flagging will guide you to a faint trail that leads up to the low pass to the south (only 30 minutes! Breanne hiking along the wide open meadows in the Beaujolais Valley. Breanne with Beaujolais Peak on the right. We d...

When its time to go, you go. Thursday, March 19, 2015. On our second day, we were up for a longer day, namely a peak called The Galleon in the Babine Range - A classic tour in the Smithers area and highly recommended if you are into a nice tour to a beautiful valley and peak. The NW face of the Galleon holds many really nice couloirs. Some of the terrain leading up. Thanks Julian and Chris for a great trip, skiing and company. Sunday, March 01, 2015. Spearhead with the rascalz. In a word, superb.

When its time to go, you go. Thursday, January 22, 2015. Squeeze the Day - Duffey. Had a couple of great days recently with friends, leaving and returning to the house in the dark, smiling and stoked. If this is the mantra for 2015 so be it. We headed to a familiar zone the other day and spent some time on the N, NE aspects lapping the alpine above 1700m. Nice 200-350 m shots in well settled snow. Some nice windpress on the access ridge this day. Scoping out the options of entry into the main zone.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Mt Robson - North face - Climbing out of Mordor. If your looking for a massive dark and cold undertaking look no further the north face of Robson in October is where you want to be! This thanksgiving my brother (Andreas) and I decided to work up an appetite and try a full loop of the mountain up the North Face and down the Robson Resplendent Spur. Leaving the bikes at Kinney lake we planned to hike/climb to the base of the NF sleep, then up over and out the next day. Placing ...

http://theoutsideout.blogspot.com/2013/12/central-chile-cajon-del-maipo.html
Sunday, December 8, 2013. Central Chile - Cajon del Maipo Skimountaineering beta. San Jose a 5800m volcan and its neighbor Marmolejo 6100m was our fist stop in Chile. Our plan was to take advantage of the good snow coverage on this side of the range and see the area before heading over to Aconcagua? It just didn't add up and we just never left. :). Beautiful traverse threading these two peaks. Karen on "the snow highway". We dug in at 3300 meters and contemplated whether or not it was possible to do the ...
