Richard is a computer programmer and communications expert. His qualifications include a degree in physics, a diploma in Spanish, and a certificate in programming FORTRAN. Prior to joining the Met Office he taught science to teenagers in Zimbabwe and did statistical analysis for a Government agency in London.
