Yvonne in Japan: April 2007
http://yinjapan.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 19, 2007. Weekendtrip to Takayama - Monday. After a good night sleep I was ready for a new day loaded with sightseeing. First, I wanted to visit the Takayama morning markets (asaichi), which are held every morning from around 7 to noon. The Jinya-mae market is located in front of the Takayama Jinya, and the Miyagawa market along the Miyagawa river. People from nearby sell fresh farm products, flowers or some local crafts in most of the stands. The open air museum exhibits over 30 very typ...

It was great to get to see rural japan after so many weeks with only big cities (ok, except from Okinawa.). Some impressions from Magome - a beautiful, small town. Enjoying the N...

Monday morning I went running before the workshop started - meaning at 6 o'clock in the morning. The weather was gorgeous, and the hotel located in beautiful nature. Mervin was...

Yvonne in Japan: March 2007
http://yinjapan.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 31, 2007. More sightseeing in Nagoya. Today (Saturaday) I went on another sightseeing trip with Elisabeth and Emilie. At first we decided to go to the Atsuta Jingū (熱田神宮) , a Japanese Shinto shrine known to be the second most venerable in Japan. On our way from the subway to the shrine we met a lot of dressed up Japaneses with their babies. They all had performed a form for "baptism" at the shrine and touched (some drank it) water from a spring (picture below). Thursday, March 29, 2007.
