Saturday, June 25, 2005. Eu não sou portuguese, tolo. The Inka Trail, Peru. I grew up being told I was part Portuguese (a twelfth, if you're interested.) I'd never been to Portugal, but I felt a small connection to the place. I'd learned a little bit of the language, I vaguely supported Luis Figo and the rest of the Portuguese football team. I even planned one day to make a pilgrimage there and discover my roots. A Lake in Peru. Posted by Laura Gomez at 4:44 PM. Friday, June 24, 2005. There is a house ne...

Saturday, December 03, 2005. These are two of the books my stories have been published in. If you look reeeally carefully, you can spot my name on the front cover of the first. Posted by Laura Gomez at 6:10 AM. Here's another couple of paintings I sold recently, inspired by the artwork from the film A Clockwork Orange. Both are acrylic on canvas, and are slightly different, believe it or not. If you ever want any artwork made to order, I will paint pretty much anything. I'm not proud!

A garden with lots of secret corners and overgrown enclaves, which only a long loved garden can cultivate. We emptied out boxes of photographs and old clocks, and burned the yellowhut down. A lovel...

Monday, February 27, 2006. I wasted two hours of my life this weekend, making a page on deviantart.com. I've always avoided it before as it seemed full of people displaying their below average art (like mine! But I discovered people can also display their below average prose there too. So I thought I'd join in. Here's my deviantart page LauraGomez. I've also linked to it in my About Me. Section on the right hand side of this page. Posted by Laura Gomez at 7:11 AM. Chalk Box: March 2006

Friday, March 03, 2006. The Georgian era is famed for its elegance but, beneath the surface, life was somewhat less luxurious. The poor and destitute could often be found strung up naked as artists' models, helping to produce some of British arts finest works. The models were usually poor or homeless. Unlucky ex soldiers or boxers were also in high demand, as they often had good physiques. Male models with muscles were always favoured. The great irony being that these desperate women, looked down on even...
