In Search of Tech. Looking for the next big thing. Could Cisco ACI Kill APM? How Does This Help Aruba Networks? May 18, 2014. Back in 2010, I wrote a post entitled “ Competing With Cisco. It has been a few years, and since I have been in the VAR. I feel sorry for smaller technology vendors. They face an uphill climb when going against the 800lb gorillas. Interestingly enough, I have often wondered about that phrase. Perusing the Wikipedia article on 800lb gorilla. That site really does have everything!

There is one other factor to consider. HP will be splitting into two companies. Has pointed out to me, if you try and be good at everyth...

In Search of Tech. Looking for the next big thing. Diving Into The Channel. Stepping Out Of The Bubble →. July 16, 2011. Let me push modesty to the side for a second and key in on some things. My transition happened fast. I was contacted by several different companies. I already knew who I did and did not want to work for. I was prepared to accept my offer from HP as a last resort. Musings of a voice and data network engineer. Monday, June 13, 2011. UC Keep It Simple Stupid #2 - Naming Convention Phooey. I have a (semi-)short list of recommendations I follow when I design a UC Manager naming convention:. 1 Don't include the type of the thing you are naming in its name (did you think this WOULDN'T be #1? 2 Establish the goals of your naming convention ahead of time, then tweak the names to conform to your goals. You can see where this is going. 7 For site specific elements, decide o...

Moving Ones and Zeros. Ramblings of a Network Engineer. CCIE Bootcamp - First Two Days. First two days of my CCIE bootcamp have been pretty good. He has some great soap-box style rants and loves to points out screw-ups in IOS. I love it! PPP was, welll.PPP. I hate PPP and its one of those topics I have to suck it up and get comfortable with. Musings of a voice and data network engineer. Thursday, June 6, 2013. The Future of Communications, Part 2: Can you see me now? This is a continuation from Part 1. Musings of a voice and data network engineer. Saturday, June 8, 2013. The Future of Communications, Part 3: SIP Federati. For a while now, setting up SIP for voice to the outside world through these amazing SRV records has been kinda like being the first person in the world that owned a fax machine: They probably did not get very many faxes, since there weren’t any other machines out there to send them anything.
