27 – 30 April. On Thursday the next meeting with the professor is scheduled. So I’m trying to get some requested plots ready until then. One plot I’m particularly interested in is a probability ratio from the best to the second best fit. The data producing classes are ready since two weeks, now I’m starting to analyze the data coming out. Friday is off because of a holiday. Doch nicht so richtig Uff…. Ich hatte ganz vergessen, vom Ergebnis des Meetings zu berichten: Es war am Ende dann doch ein recht freundliches und produktives Meeting. Die Gespräche im Vorfeld hatten mich da schon anderes vermuten lassen. Derweil sitze ich wieder hier im CERN, um den Antizähler auszubauen. Aber dazu in einem eigenen Beitrag mehr…. 20 – 24 April. The weekend has been productive and I got some parts written on my readout system chapter. On Monday I discuss my findings on the closest distance of helix to point. 7 – 9 April. A short week in terms of being at the institute. Until Monday including, I wrote quite a bit and finished my first chapter. I also started with an outline for the next chapter. Back in Jülich, I’m preparing some plots I can show my professor on Wednesday for our bi-weekly meeting. This is a productive one with lots of ideas on how to proceed. Zack, da ist die Woche wieder rum gewesen. Wir waren im CERN, um den Antizähler auszubauen. Nächste Woche wird er dann wieder in das neue Gehäuse mit dem Permanentmagneten eingebaut. Der Antizähler ist ein Szintillator, das heißt, wenn ihn ein Teilchen passiert, leuchtet er (mit sehr geringer Intensität) auf. Das wird dann von lichtempfindlichen Teilen (den Photomultipliern) wahrgenommen und in elektrische Signale umgewandelt. Dieser Beitrag wurde unter .diplom. Doch nicht so richtig Uff…. Talk: The PANDA Strip ASIC (PASTA). Current status of the development for the MVD silicon strip front-end. IKP-1 group meeting seminar. IKP meeting room, FZ Jülich. People from IKP-1, mainly physicists working on PANDA but also other hadron physics experiments. Huh, that was close, I almost missed my turn at the weekly seminar. Luckily, I just presented my work the week before, so I could reuse most of the things from there. I put in three more slides because I have some more time to explain.

Stress vor dem Urlaub. Urx – morgen gehts in den Urlaub nach Skandinavien und bis dahin sollten noch ein paar Ergebnisse her. Denn am 16.04. ist großes Meeting und da soll auch vom Antizähler was präsentiert werden können. Nur komme ich eben erst am 17.04. wieder nach Aachen zurück. Und so sitze ich hier nun und warte darauf, dass der Admin die Email liest und sich um den Rechner kümmert. 18 – 22 May. The first half of the week I’m still fiddling with software tools and finding the proper combination that I’m satisfied with.
